Outfit for funeral

FIL died last week and I need an outfit for the funeral next week. Im not going to get the chance to go shopping or go home to try outfits on until the day before (currently staying with MIL) and would need to order something ASAP if it is going to have a chance to arrive!

I would rather not buy too much new as like everyone I’m feeling the pinch.

Im 35, slim build and quite tall, dresses tend to come up short on me and I don’t want to be feeling self conscious all day. It’s probably going to be cold as well. I already own some black biker boots and was thinking potentially these and black trousers but not sure? Any advice or ideas welcome.

I've been to a couple of funerals lately and really anything goes. Your black trousers and boots sound fine. What do you have in the way of a coat?

I've also been to a couple of funerals/memorials lately and second the PP in that there have been a very wide range of outfits worn by people of very different generations. Dresses, tops/bottoms, sober colours, bright colours, plain, patterned. As long as it's clean and tidy and the overall look is not 'I've just come back from a party/club/holiday/the garden'.

Black trousers and biker boots sound absolutely fine. Have you got a top that would go? With a dark bottom half you could have a brighter top. And if it's going to be cold you need a coat or a jacket with a big scarf. There's often a lot of standing around at funerals and it's easy to get cold.

I’ve got a navy smart coat which is fine, or a camel coat which would go with an all black outfit. MIL is wearing green which was FIL favourite colour, so this helps.
