Recommend me some wellies for fat legs!

I've had some short "normal" green wellies but one of them has split (found out the hard way when it filled with water this morning!).
I've got fat legs and a high instep which means actually getting my foot in through the ankle part is also tricky.
Short or full length is fine.
Any recommendations please? Cheaper the better but happy to pay more for sorting that isn't a struggle.

I searched wide leg wellies on Amazon and bought from there. Was a while ago but they're great. Can even tuck my jeans in.

Just had a look.. mine are the half leg Dunlop ones £12

Aigle parcours Vario. Not cheap but worth it!

Thank you! Don't think I can stretch to the Vario ones unfortunately, but will try the Dunlop.

I have fat legs which swell on top so feel your pain! I've seen people recommend muck boots for bigger legs but haven't gotten round to trying them myself

I have Grub boots which have a neoprene top half and fit my larger calves well. They are the most comfy wellies I've ever worn and worth the money

Can I ask a stupid question? With grubs and muck boots: - they both have neoprene from the ankle up, don't your legs get wet if the water you're wading through is deep?

I’ve always had muck boots and have very fat legs, they’ve been very comfortable.

They didn’t leak ever, until ds borrowed them and put a garden fork through them.

Dunlop are the best wellies for heavy use in my experience. If you're doing regular walks/work in them, I definitely recommend these. I have chunky legs and these are really good for me and very affordable.

longtompot · 01/03/2022 19:59

I've never had an issue with the water getting through the leg bit. The only issue I've had is not looking after the rubber foot section and it cracking and then leaking

GoingBacktoSchool123 · 01/03/2022 23:46

Hunter fat leg version are good.

hellosunshineagainx · 01/03/2022 23:54

I buy joules molly, they are slightly shorter but wider so fit my big calves

Lurkerlot · 02/03/2022 00:05

I can’t get my foot into any boot that doesn’t open at the ankle, so I have a trusty pair of Mucker boots, their lace up design also means they fit my fat calves.

I've gone with the Dunlop half leg ones as they're cheap and will be here tomorrow.
But for anyone else looking, mountain warehouse also do neoprene ones.
