So real me! (for fun)

She looks nothing like you
You actually don't dress like this
But the instant you see her in those clothes you think 'that's so real me!'

I am 5ft 5, mid-fifties, weigh around 9.5 stones (sorry don't do metric) and dark in colouring, yet here I am . . .

The link doesn’t work! But I’m intrigued

sparklefarts · 01/03/2022 10:19

I don't get it?

Zazdar · 01/03/2022 10:25

The link shows a woman in a pink jumper, near Ashbourne?

Zazdar · 01/03/2022 10:26

Zazdar · 01/03/2022 10:27

That was my attempt at creating a working link being blocked!

stripeyflowers · 01/03/2022 10:28

That's odd - I've just clicked the link at my end and it does - not sure!

sparklefarts

Hard to describe - I suppose I mean where there is difference between how you feel inside and the clothes you feel are your perfect match for the true you as opposed to how you actually look and what you actually wear. If you look and dress exactly how you feel inside then this wouldn't make sense but if you don't and you feel this 'gap' it might make more sense. It's not how you 'want' to be but how you feel you really are inside.

There is a better more succinct way of putting it but I can't think of it!!

It initially links to the woman but shows her whole outfit in other photos.

If the links aren't working I'm sorry - it's all gone horribly wrong and I'm sorry for wasting your time. Was meant just for fun.

I’m confused — I can’t see the photo, but are you saying the photo represents how you feel you look inside, even though she in no way resembles you? Or she dresses how you would like to dress if your outside matched your inner self?

SwissCheeseRentedChildren · 01/03/2022 10:41

I think you should order the outfit anyway (in a size that fits you of course). I grant you permission to be yourself!

Poppins2016 · 01/03/2022 10:48

Let's see if this works for you, OP.

I think I get it... this is the look you aspire towards and feel is the real 'you'.

I also struggle with the same thing, in fact I have several different 'looks' in my wardrobe... I'm a bit of a chameleon. In truth, I suspect the issue is partly that I don't want to spend too much money on clothes (especially if I don't love something - and it's hard for me to find clothes that I truly love)!

ambereeree · 01/03/2022 11:25

Did you look like that when you were younger OP?
I still look for clothes to fit a slim woman in her 20s not a mother of two with a c section overhang.

TyrannosaurusRights · 01/03/2022 13:39

I like clothes that fit my imaginary life. The one where I go to nice restaurants, fancy events and sip cocktails. These clothes don’t work for my real life of baby, toddler, dog, housework, etc.

stayathomer · 01/03/2022 13:47

I'm 41 and in my head I'd love to wear a Rachel greene style short tartan skirt, boots but I'd also love to go back to dark kohl eyeliner. (I live in black trousers or jeans and baggy jumpers!)

JofraArchersFastestBall · 01/03/2022 14:28

My problem is I've got about three versions of myself in my head, and I look like none of them. There's a sporty/urban/cool me, a scruffy indie kid me and a classic, natural fibres adult me...

Livedandlearned · 02/03/2022 17:33

I'm stylish in my head and definitely not stylish in real life.

Ponks · 02/03/2022 17:59

@Livedandlearned

I'm stylish in my head and definitely not stylish in real life.
Oh me too. In my head I'm Suzie Bick, the reality is more Susan Calman in a sensible cardi.
Superquints · 02/03/2022 22:04

In my head I’m nowhere near as unattractive as I am. Then I have a photo or catch a glimpse of myself and the illusion is shattered.
In my head I’m average looking. In reality I’m pretty ugly - especially now I’m older too.
