Keratin/ Brazilian blow-dry question

I moved to DIY Kerstin blow dries a few years ago, quite pleased with the results.

I did wonder though, rather than blow drying and straightening the hair dead straight as per instructions, is it possible to wave/ curl the hair, and would it set that way? Anyone given it a go?

Keratin treatment isn't a straightening treatment, it's a smoothing treatment and to smooth the shaft of the hair it requires the straighteners to seal the treatment over the hair shaft smoothing it, like coating it in plastic.

I don't know if you could successfully wave or curl and achieve the same effect I would assume a hair curler wouldn't reach the temperatures needed to set the product correctly (ie GHDs don't get up to a high enough temperature), and that curling wouldn't set the hair shaft straight so you would end up with at best an uneven result.

I haven't had a problem curling my hair post treatment if that helps?

Thanks @psuedocream3.
My trouble is that half my hair is curly and half dead straight, which just shows up even more after the treatment. I was hoping to maybe wave it to even out the disparity a bit. But I am not really skilled enough and would probably end up with completely crazy hair Sad
