My hair is really dry should I go for the conditioner or the mask? Thanks in advance

Some people love it but it hasn't made one jot if difference to mine.
I have used the range from the pre shampoo followed by conditioner and then tbe mask but you couldnt tell!
Gutted really, it cost me a fortune!

User1412 · 26/02/2022 16:59

Really how disappointing I thought the shampoo was good but I really had to massage into scalp and I left it on for a few minutes

It depends. Is your hair damaged from colouring? Or (I think) heat styling? Or just dry? It won’t add moisture and if it’s moisture that’s lacking it won’t improve it. However, if the structure is damaged it will make a big difference!
I box-dye my roots every couple of weeks so my hair was really damaged and the Olaplex 0 and 3 every week or two have made a huge difference. I leave it on over night and wash in the morning and it’s amazing. I just use my regular shampoo and conditioner, so I can’t comment on those.

Neither - the active ingredient is highly diluted in its day to day haircare form and a waste of money. I’ve also tried both and they just felt cheap.

I use Kerastase with no complaints

I found out about Olaplex from MN and I found it has been a game changer for my post pregnancy hair - really smooth and shiny and healthy looking.

I use the number 3 (bond builder?) as a mask I leave in for 30 mins once a week and I've found it's made a huge difference. I also have their number 6 (the smoother I think?) and it's a decent hair balm but no better than other cheaper products like some frizz ease balms IMO.

Worked great for my curly colored hair I also used the 3 and 6 and as pp said 3 was the one that made a real difference.

KindlyKanga · 27/02/2022 08:23

3 is the one that makes a difference for me. The others, shampoo etc just seem like add ons to capitalise on its popularity

Not to scaremonger as I don’t have the full picture of this but I read just yesterday that an ingredient in Olaplex is being banned in the EU because it has links to infertility? I have used it from time to time and never heard of this, just popped up on my FB yesterday and when I googled it there were a few articles about it. Has anyone heard this?

Associatepeggy · 27/02/2022 08:27

I have tried them all and I found 3 and 6 are the best. I do use 7, but when that runs our I will swop to another oil is fairly similar to other oil our there. If I could only use one product it would be 6.

The shampoo isnt going to do loads on its own. Number 8 is OK, but I saw more difference from using number 3.

garlicandsapphires · 27/02/2022 08:29

No 3 is amazing for my hair - but off to google links with infertility now!!Shock

Quite a few cosmetics have it in. It's nor just olaplex. From what I can see, it's a very small amount, too small to actually harm you, especially on your hair.

They are taking it out because the eu are completely banning it. So even if it was completely harmless they can't keep it in.

They aren't removing it because they feel it could be making people infertile.

Mmmmdanone · 27/02/2022 08:33

I'm really disappointed in olaplex. I thought it would sort out my dry frizzy hair. I used the shampoo, conditioner, no 3, the oil and my hair is just as awful. In fact my scalp felt itchy so I stopped using it. Might just be me but don't expect too much!

KindlyKanga · 27/02/2022 08:53

Ah it's a fragrance that's been banned. Explains why it's on offer so often these days I imagine they are selling off the stock over here where its not banned.

This has been debunked over the last couple of days. Hundreds of beauty products contain this ingredient & they (like Olaplex) will have there ingredients list tweaked!

I get the treatments at the hairdresser too - that makes a difference when l am destroying my hair with bleach!

No3 works really well for me - I tend to put it on the lengths of my hair in the evening, pin my hair up and sleep in it, then wash out the next morning.

Not bothered about infertility - I have three kids and no uterus. Grin
