Lost 5 stone and can't figure out what size I am!

Why is it so complicated?!

All my size 22/20/18 stuff is absolutely hanging off me, I look ridiculous.

Yet I buy size 14, 16 stuff and I can't fit my boobs in it (am a very saggy 34E now)

I feel like my plus size stuff was just over sized. And now 'normal' 16s are too small in most places.

Yet I've fit perfectly in some 14 trousers (and I still have alot of weight in my belly!)

And it doesn't help that I like quite alternative things so in shops like killstar despite losing 70lbs I still have to buy a XXL, again mostly for boobs.

I bought 2 dresses from H&m in 16s... No where near fitting. I still want to lose another 2 stone so figured I would keep them.
But at 5ft5 and 10 stone 4lbs would I really still be a 16 in h&m?! Seems ridiculous

I give up

Well done @BeaAggressiv . I asked GP to put me on the bariatric pathway, after reading the thread on here. Slimming world was the first step and much to my surprise, this time it worked. I think because of lockdown- I was less stressed than usual and could really concentrate on my own well being.

May I ask, how do you handle the binge moments if you can't binge? I'm wondering if there's anything I could learn from you, about different ways of handling it.

BeaAggressiv · 26/02/2022 15:53

I was on the bariatric pathway with NHS but was told it would be years and I want guaranteed to get surgery at the end of it so I went private, albeit abroad.

When I want to binge I just have a small amount of what I want. I can't really do anything else 😂
But I've learnt that a small amount of something is OK.

Instead of going shops and getting 2 multipacks of chocolate I will have a single kinder hippo or something. Just portion control, which I never had any concept of before.

Also since having my stomach out I do t really get hungry. Not like I used to.

I'm very happy for you, and hope you find some great clothes soon!

I want to wear Jo Browns stuff, but I also want sustainable... I'll stick to charity shops for a while, I think.

TakeMe2Insanity · 26/02/2022 16:11

Well done OP !!

IvorCutler · 26/02/2022 16:27

At your weight and height I’d imagine you’re probably a 14? Although every body is different! I’m a big 12 at 5’8” and 11 stone. Even at 8 and half stone I was only an 8 though. Many would be a 6.

IvorCutler · 26/02/2022 16:28

And yes, well done!

CambsAlways · 26/02/2022 17:13

Wow that’s pretty fast op well done , took me 4 months to lose 2 stone

Yes, the sleeve is very quick. Has its downsides with that though such as vitamin deficiency, hairloss and other issues.

Well done on your weight loss. Like others have said, go and get a couple of decent fitting bras just now. It will make such a difference to how dresses and tops fit you. Honestly.

Good luck with the gym - be brave, no-one will be paying any attention to you. If you want to use equipment make an induction appointment, if you want to try a class, get there in good time and let the instructor know you're just starting out and they'll look after you. They want you to feel comfortable so that you will keep going back.

BakeOffRewatch · 26/02/2022 19:21

It’s the bras, just buy one bra. Clothes will sit completely differently.

BeaAggressiv · 26/02/2022 19:40

OK. I'll go to bravissimo 😂

I'm wearing a jumper from phase right , it's a L and has plenty of room for my 38 HH

BeaAggressiv · 26/02/2022 21:17

I'll update with my bra size when I've been 😂

Sorry not read the full thread but you sound like an identical weight to me.

I lost 6 stone and am now 12.3 - maybe 4 sometimes and 5.5. I have a huge spare tyre from being so overweight and 5 kids and I'm exactly the same with clothes.

I'd have thought I'd be a 16 but hardly ever fit in a 16 unless elasticated waist and I certainly need an 18 usually for trousers and tops mostly 16/18 - I've bought Karen Millen and still need a 20 in their curve range 😕.

If I lost the last two stone that I need to lose I reckon I'd still be a good size 14.

I seemed to lose the weight on my legs and arms - still look a bit like a capital B when stood sideways and am an extreme apple shape I think.

Ah well op congrats on losing the weight! I can't get anymore off and I've been this weight forever the last year. All my life I wanted to be 12 stone thinking that I'd be lovely in clothes but hey ho. It's only a label mind you my bloody bra size is still a 36/38 FF ...

BeaAggressiv · 27/02/2022 11:03

See I got cord trousers from a younguns shop, very rigid and the 14 is now getting a bit baggy so it's a mine field.

I used to be a B shape but am definitely changed now and even though my Wright is on my tum it's flatter but saggy. Tummy tuck will fix that at goal tho!

What a super job you've done loosing all that weight. I take my hat off to you.
Even in smaller sizes it can vary so much from shop to shop. I really don't want to encourage cheap fashion but I would stick to the likes of Primark etc for now until you've reached your target wait. Once your 'figure' has settled down, spoil yourself by investing in some better quality clothes and underwear that you will feel deservingly fabulous in.

picklemewalnuts · 27/02/2022 19:20

Are you wearing good pants? Makes a huge difference. Doesn't need to be Spanx, even high waisted cottons will help smooth the overhang. Also, I find it gets irritable under there, where the top edge of the pants are.
