Eyebrows mid fifties dark eyebrows really thin at outer edge help don’t want slug eyebrows

I am mid fifties and my eyebrow’s are still fairly dark but very thin/faint at the outer edges. I think this fairly common if you have an under active thyroid and as we age. I am a bit of a wimp and used to get them waxed and dyed. But I have’t been to a beauty salon since lockdown. My daughter will dye and pluck them for me from time to time if she is in good mood which is rarely.

But I wondered about maybe trying something more permanent but don’t want anything too painful, looks like I am trying to hard, too savage or unnatural looking? Any advice.

Have your thyroid checked. Thinning outer eyebrows is a symptom. In the meantime, eyebrow tint would work

Hi @SiennaSienna thanks yes I have had an under active thyroid and been on medication for this for almost 20 years. I have blood tests 6 monthly to check the medication dosage is correct.

My previously thick eyebrows are thinner due to Hashimoto’s too. Age probably also a factor. I still have enough outer third to brush in some brow gel, I like bow brow from Glossier.
My red headed friend swears that having her brows microbladed has been the best thing she has done for her face. She lives hundreds of miles away and I haven’t yet seen her in real life since she has had them done but they look great in pictures, very natural .

@wordlewobble apologies, I just re-read your post so my answer wasn't actually helpful (at all Blush). I swear by tinting my eyebrows at home, as I'm too nervous to have them microbladed or powder-browed. I wouldn't want to end up with something too extreme..

Thanks Siena I have a fair haired friend mid 60’s who swears by getting hers tattooed or micro bladed.

They are still quite fair and look fine and have lasted several years but they are quite costly. But as her whole eyebrows had practically disappeared its possibly easier. Whereas, I am now 3/4’s of the way to growing in my grey have 2/3rd’s dark eye brows and the last 3rd extremely faint fine almost disappearing and look about two hairs wide.

I've got this stuff that you put on, it dries and then you peel it off. Like a tint but easier.

Google eyebrow tint gel

It lasts about a week and it's so easy to do and not scary like I thought it would be!
