Plus Size brand recommendations

Hi, can anyone recommend some interesting plus size brands please? I'm looking for some dresses. I love bold pattern (think marimekko etc) or block colours. Perhaps interesting silhouettes? I'm so fed up of not being able to find things that I both like and fit/suit me. I'm prob a size 22 on top, less on the bottom (very booby). Thanks!

Some Cos stuff works very well on body types like yours, though far from all -- some of it looks better on fuller-figured people, actually. Worth trying their stuff on, because I think it's almost never possible to distinguish what will work from what won't on the hanger.

Monsoon do some up to size 24

londonmummy1966 · 24/02/2022 17:19

Marina Rinaldi - if it is out of budget look for it on ebay etc

ItsCanardBruv · 24/02/2022 17:23

Anna Scholz - sales are excellent. More suited for taller women though and at 5’4” I’ve had to have trousers taken up.

BlueDaffs · 24/02/2022 17:36

Thanks all, that's really helpful. I agree about Cos being hard to predict and worth trying on. I hadn't heard of Marina Rinaldi, thanks- will check out!

I'd forgotten Marina Rinaldi some of it is lovely. I'd also give a nod to Oska they have a weird vogue for 7/8th length trousers which I can't abide, but I've bought the odd excellent coat from them, and a few items of knitwear.

Wordlewobble · 24/02/2022 17:53

Maybe try Boden they go up to a size 22. Ooh Betty Clothing she can make alterations and is very helpful if you message her. Also have a look at Debenhams, John Lewis and Monsoon.

BlueDaffs · 24/02/2022 18:13

@londonmummy1966 the are definitely possibilities on the Marina Rinaldi website, thanks. A bit pricey for me but I'm an eBay fiend so will keep an eye out.

@ItsCanardBruv I'd forgotten about Anna Schulz. The dresses tend to be a bit too floaty for my liking but thank you!

I've just ordered some dresses from Pretty Kitty, they are gorgeous, and really flattering, even though I do not have a waist anymore! They' re fairly generously cut, and a 20 would probably fit a 22 bust.

BlueDaffs · 25/02/2022 16:24

Thanks @DelphiniumBlue! Unfortunately I'm particularly big around the middle so I don't think the shape of their clothes would suit me. But thank you! 😊

www.almeparis.com/default/collection/robe Alme Paris. The website is only in French but your browser will probably translate if you need it to.

BlackCoffeeInAPoolOfSunshine · 25/02/2022 17:18

42=14,
44 = 16

etc. roughly if in doubt go one up.

They do up to a 54 which is a UK 26.

BlueDaffs · 25/02/2022 17:23

Thanks @BlackCoffeeInAPoolOfSunshine I'll check them out!

If you want to avoid polyester try Zizzi - its a Danish brand. I don't think they have a UK site but you can get some stuff on Amazon, some on ASOS I think or Zolando and through "boutique shop" websites.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 25/02/2022 17:38

NeverFullyDressed has a curve section. Just bought my holiday wardrobe from the outlet section. I'm a size 20. (Was a 24 at Xmas). The dresses all fit ok across my 42DDs ( Well one of them plus a foob).

I can also pm a referral code for £10 off first purchase.

EraOfTheGrey · 25/02/2022 17:53

I know you said you didn't like floaty but Zuri have some great prints and are 100% cotton.

BlueDaffs · 26/02/2022 09:58

@EraOfTheGrey omg thanks, I love these clothes! Not floaty at all! I like the cut of the garments, and the prints 😍 and big sizes too! I'll definitely order something to see how they work on my shape. Thank you!

@Babysharkdoodoodood @BlackCoffeeInAPoolOfSunshine thanks both, I've checked both these suggestions out and there's definite potential to find some things there. Thank you! 🙏

@EraOfTheGrey with Zuri, do you know if there are stockists in the UK, or is everything ordered from the US? I assume that would involve extra duty costs, and I never can work out what that will be!

@BlueDaffs I found them after seeing Sarah Millican wearing them, she owns a good few. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a UK stockist as yet. Please let me know which one you go for because I simply can't make up my mind.

BlueDaffs · 26/02/2022 15:20

@EraOfTheGrey will do! Yes I was Googling images of their dresses on people and came across pics of her. It was good to see how well they looked on her (someone quite booby, although I am more so!). I can't wait to try one on!

www.gudrunsjoden.com/en-gb
Gudrun Sjoden - their sizing is pretty generous and can be reasonable in the sales or on ebay.

Asos - if you can be bothered to spend going through everything! (And not that ethical of you care about such things)

Fatface goes up to a 22/24 in most of their clothes. Quality had been variable recently- but I have breton tops from them that are ancient and still hold their shape and colour well.

Anthropologie has a plus sized range - can't remember the name - but again can get a good bargain in their sales. (They discount up to 70%)

John Lewis - check out their anyday range - basics at reasonable prices. I think the XL is a 20 - but often quite generous in the sizing.

BlueDaffs · 26/02/2022 15:50

Thanks @MrsFrisbyMouse some good leads! 🙏
