pic in profile - Should i get a fringe?

MAMAZONtopofKILTbeingrude · 03/01/2008 00:37

can't believe im starting a thread in style and beauty since i have neither but im getting very bored with my hair.

its very long and dark and straight.
i really llike the current trend of having a fringe, probably not the ultra trendy block fringes as lets face i would look like a twunt as im too old. BUT what about maybe a softer one?

i have asked RL friends and they are divided so i am asking the ever so honest Mn style guru's.

what do you think? oh and i know the pic is a bad one but you get the idea

jalopy · 03/01/2008 14:52

What a gorgeous pic, mamazon. Don't do a fringe, your hair looks great.

Quadrophenia · 03/01/2008 16:19

you can have a fringe with a small for head but it is very important that the fringe is started quite far back, so has to be heavy.

DrNortherner · 03/01/2008 16:22

Well as a fringe owner myself I would say yes. Fringes are very cool. They make you look younger (though you look gorgeous without!)

You could carry off quite a heavy one too

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/01/2008 16:24

why gild the lily though - mamazon looks lovely !

Quadrophenia · 03/01/2008 16:26

fringes are very good for updating a hairstyle you may be bored of.!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/01/2008 16:26

I think fringes make you look younger.
When I have one i have trouble getting a lottery ticket.

Lizzylou · 03/01/2008 16:29

I have a side parting and longish small fringe (was too scared to go the whole hog) and I like it, but it is annoying me at the moment as it is in my eyes.

You have lovely hair and I think a fringe would suit you, do it!

You've got lovely shiny hair! How does it stay so glossy? Tell us your secrets NOW OR ELSE!!! Personally I think you should go for layers around your face rather than a fringe. They're such a bugger to grow out if you don't like it.

Has your hairdresser got a wig with a fringe in you could try to see what it looks like?

SheikYerbouti · 03/01/2008 16:34

You are stunning Mamazon

I don;t think you need a fringe

(It's intergalactic by the way, not some weirdy stalkker)

chocolatespiders · 03/01/2008 18:03

an angled fringe would be lovely
but maybe not a square one

you are stunning lovely hair and lips

chocolatespiders · 03/01/2008 18:04

maent to say with and angled fringe it might be good to get the front of the sides graduated to

noddyholder · 03/01/2008 18:05

I have seen Mamazon in the flesh and she is stunning.I don't think you need a fringe as you have nothing to hide Wait til you are riddles with wrinkles and then get one

MABS · 03/01/2008 18:15

I know her too, as Noddy says, she's gorgeous, no fringe necessary.

MAMAZON · 03/01/2008 20:31

well i am now grinning like a mad woman at all the compliments. thank you in particular to Niddy and mabs for not spoiling the illusion and telling everyone how awful i actually look lol

see now im still no better off as your all split too. hmmmmmmmmm

i uploaded a pic onto the ivillage thingy, a really bad one where my face looks very fat indeed and the block fringe didn'#t actually look too bad but i would hate to have to grow it out.

would definatly have to be a softer side fringe, almost like a shorter layer rather than a fringe.

As for my secrets....errr none lol.
i used Asda own brand shampoo and conditioner, the only thing i do that could even be deemed slightly clever is that once i have finished washing i rinse with cold water.

noddyholder · 03/01/2008 22:07

niddy ? that has really made me laugh which with ds's antics tonight is quite a feat

sophierosie · 03/01/2008 22:09

Don't do it - you look lovely in those photos - I had similar hair to you and had a fringe put in and find it really annoying, am constantly brushing it out of my eyes and find that I get a shiny forehead which is not attractive!

Am now growing it out!

Spidermama · 03/01/2008 22:10

I agree with Pann. What amazing hair. So beautiful. It would be a crime to cut a wedge out of it. (I'm not a fan of fringes at the risk of alienating about 60% of MNers.

Mamazon you are beautiful btw.

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 03/01/2008 22:16

sadly although i am old enough to need a fringe - idont generally like them
you are young and pretty mamazon fear not

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 03/01/2008 22:22

sorry to hijack but i have the same question!!

MAMAZON · 04/01/2008 00:01

noddy im so sorry but glad you had a think i have spent too long trying to decipher COD and i know type like her.

well i am getting an awfully big head so a fringe probably wouldn't suit me now anyway.

Nappy - you really ARE gorgeous and young

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 04/01/2008 00:03

yes but what about the fringe???
