I love Armani Luminous Silk but really need to get it colour matched and have no counter within travelling distance. Throw suggestions at me for an alternative please. Have access to Space NK and Frasers. Thanks!

No 7 Hydraluminous

AgathaX · 24/02/2022 12:12

tanktopsruleok - thanks for that suggestion, I'll give it a go.

Geamhradh · 24/02/2022 14:04

Hydraluminous here.

I did treat myself last week to the EL Doublewear Sheer which I guess is the replacement for Doublewear light- it is very very sheer and not sure how they're getting away with putting it under the "doublewear" label tbh. It's a lovely liquid but prob for summer when you want a hint of a tint.

I also bought some Chantecaille Future Skin which is "porcelain" but the strangest "porcelain" I've ever had.

I have some Erborian samples but even the lightest is way too orange for me (Boots Calico/ EL bone)

Nars Sheer Glow.

The new Lisa Eldridge one is amazing too and there’s a colour match tool.

Both are buildable and very flattering.

@AgathaX

I was using Double Wear Light but they've discontinued it. I'm now trying to find something as good. Double Wear itself is too heavy for me.
Yes, and its ‘replacement’ is no good. I was reminded sharply of this recently when I discovered an unopened tube of Double Wear Light that I’d forgotten about. It works very well for me, and I haven’t found anything nearly as good. Double Wear is also too much for me.

What eyeshadow are people using? My skin is papery thin and looks terrible when I wear shadow.

CharlesChickens · 24/02/2022 14:19

@Anothermnuser

Goodness, thank you for so many recommendations.

I did actually contact Armani Beauty on their chat and they suggested a couple of shades based on my last colour match … only I was never really happy with that as the SA said it was better to go darker than my skin-tone. I used it for a couple of years but always felt it wasn’t quite right. Sadly my nearest Armani counter is a 3 hr drive.

I’ll definitely have a look at these recommendations - it’s good to see some recommended by a few posters. Thanks again.

It is NEVER better to go darker than your skintone.

I am using the Jones Road face pencil just where I need it , eg under eyes, anywhere there is redness.

Rebecca75 · 24/02/2022 15:01

Findation looks great - I've never heard of it before so thank you to the person who posted the link

AgathaX · 24/02/2022 15:38

BloodyForeland - you're absolutely right. It's 'replacement' is rubbish.

Does anyone know why they decided to discontinue it? I would have said that Double Wear Light was a reliable money spinner -- with a loyal cohort of buyers for whom it hit the sweet spot of providing enough coverage without looking mask-like...?

I swear by the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eyeshadow Creme pencils. Much more flattering than powder eyeshadow, and easy to blend. My favourite for daytime is 'Stone' which is a lovely taupe shade.
Anothermnuser · 24/02/2022 18:10

@CharlesChickens, I know and totally agree. It was at HoF in Glasgow quite a few years ago and she insisted that’s what everyone was doing at that time. So now I’m sort of stuck as I don’t want to use that as the colour match on Findation.

Unfortunately didn’t get to the shops as had hoped and no idea when I will so am looking again at all the suggestions and wondering whether I dare order something online. Actually, was colour matched for the Boots Hydraluminous last week but she didn’t have the shade in a tester so gave me another to try and it was dreadful!

I've tried dozens of mid range products over the years the one I keep comin back to is The Ordinary serum foundation with a dusting of Laura Gellar Balance N Glow over the top.

Iheartmysmart · 24/02/2022 19:21

I like YSL All Hours when my face is having a teenage phase and Erborian when it’s acting it’s age. Bobbi Brown eyeshadow sticks seem to be much more flattering than power shadows. I use Urban Decay primer underneath and it doesn’t budge all day.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 24/02/2022 19:37

Different ones for different days / nights / seasons / need…

Spring / Summer daytime: Mac Face and Body
Spring / Summer evening: YSL Touché Eclat but very buffed in

Autumn / Winter daytime: the Clinique one in the egg shaped bottle
Autumn / Winter evening: Guerlain Lingerie (think that’s what it’s called).

Others on my dressing table:

It Cosmetics CC cream. I use a tiny amount - full coverage but can be sheared out.

Eborian in the purple tube - good for a very quick ‘nip to the shops’ face.

52 with good skin.
