I've been using Red Sky gel polish to do my own nails at home with a uv light, but the colours are quite transparent and need a good 4/5 coats to build up to a decent colour.

Any recommendations for better brands please?

I quite like the Mylee colours. Usually only need 2 or 3 coats to get a decent colour.

I use mylee mygel and find them good. Most colours need two coats but never more.

Brilliant, I'll have a look thank you!

I just use normal nail varnish (Rimmel is usually good) with a gel base and top coat. This was recommended by a nail tech and works really well.

That's interesting! Do you cure the varnish with the light, or just the base and top coat?

Gelpolish

I like Mylee. Gel polish is easier to apply than normal as if you make a mistake you can wipe it away/clear it up more easily than normal polish (until you cure it).

I have recently started using this:
sistaco.co.uk/?SkipCozyRedirect=yes&SkipCozyRedirect=yes&gc_id=11567441701&h_ad_id=583979978074&gclid=CjwKCAiA9tyQBhAIEiwA6tdCrP2Ims1eyKtBJDytNhQ3Ru9tW1kYY7VNWWwReNI2MOUaYrzjJk4lhRoCxqUQAvD_BwE
and it's amazing. It doesn't damage your nails like gels and it's easy to use and the colours are stunning.

This was my first attempt (my daughter has been using it for a while), it's crushed minerals, cruelty free and suitable for vegans. I will attempt to upload a picture. You can buy kits on Ebay for about £60 and there are groups on Facebook showing off their manicures.

@ShirleyBadass yes I cure the polish too but I have no idea if I need to, I was told that if the polish layer is too wet when you cure the top coat it will wrinkle? I think it’s worth a try
