Capsule wardrobe for 2 nights in London?

I'm going to London for 2 nights at the end of February and would like (ha!) To look stylish and relaxed. Size 12 pear shaped, I like casual elegant and sometimes slightly edgy clothes. I'm going sightseeing so lots of walking plus dinner out, musical, all the usual stuff.

Obs you can't see my existing wardrobe but I have a dark grey leather jacket as outerwear.

I'm just back from a 4 night/3 day trip to Paris. So nice to be going away again.

I hesitated about bringing my down cat but I did and boy was I glad of it! It was cold! Thankfully no rain.

I brought:
Down coat
Pea coat jacket
side-stripe jogger things,
2 polo jumpers - 1 wool mix, 1 cashmere,
sweatshirt hoodie
2 pairs of trainers
a pair of dark grey jeans

one fancy-ish blouse for evening (with the jeans),
grey scarf
It all pretty much mixed and matched. Navy white grey black and my rogue pale pink cashmere which surprisingly, fit in v well. I would have liked to bring a pair of boots, but I couldn't fit them in so I made do with trainers.

I possibly could've done with an extra going-out top, but again, I managed. I did the bare ankles and it was all fine!

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

I like the sound of your slouchy trousers with side stripe... where are they from?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/02/2022 18:05

@GeneParmesanPrivateEye They’re just M&S - black with a tan stripe. I’m really pleased with them.

Another nod for M and S -- their black wide-legged jeans are good.

@CrimbleCrumble1

I’d wear my leather look leggings, trainers, a weather appropriate jacket and cross the body bag. That’s what I wore to see a London show a couple of weeks ago and it was perfect. I’d build my capsule around that.
Where did the leather look leggings come from? I’m in the market for a pair but I’m paralysed by choice.

Currently considering H&M or mint velvet (recently post partum do not willing to spend a huge amount as I don’t know where I’ll settle size wise and it’ll be vomited on anyway).

I've got the mint velvet ones. They're great and really thin so will roll up well.

I never get capsule wardrobes just take what you need!!

CrimbleCrumble1 · 25/02/2022 22:59

TyrannosaurusRights i bought a pair from Next and M&S. The Next ones are my favourites.

Some of us are a flight away and need to pack light — nothing grimmer than wrangling dead weight up the steps of a tube station because you couldn’t decide between your three favourite coats!

Where did the leather look leggings come from?

They're kinds of like jeans, a staple. They've been a thing for years

RosesAndHellebores · 25/02/2022 23:21

Well I'm there regularly and we are going tomorrow for a nice thing. I'm going to wear a dark grey Toast dress, with a nice scarf, opaques, boots and a thigh length leather jacket.
