Fake tan for pale redheads

BigHeartyTruffle · 21/02/2022 13:05

In order to make myself look a bit healthier/glowier I am (for the first time ever) considering using fake tan. I am a pale redhead who will not tan naturally in a million years.

Oh wise mumsnetters please can you recommend some to me that don’t smell weird / stain your sheets / go streaky? Preferably that look as natural as possible especially as I am naturally pale.

Also what are your best application hints and tips? And do I have to use a different one on my face?

I will also never tan naturally, just go red &/or get more freckles

I tried this Isle of Paradise Day Dew and I have to say it is amazing. The first product I've used that looks natural, and is true buildup style so you don't need to worry about waking up orange or too dark.

For body I have also used their Mousse for body but I think the Drops might be better and I am going to try those next time

I'm fluorescent white with red hair typical Celtic colouring. I use balance me tan drops mixed with unscented body lotion. Always gives a natural looking result.

Great thank you, I will give those a go!

I have used Dove self tan body lotion in the lightest shade and liked it but will be checking out the above

As above I'm pasty and use isle of paradise drops mixed with Nivea body cream . Add hand cream to knees and elbows before you apply and then smoosh all together when you have done the other areas . I find a drop of the light in a handful of the cream gives my legs a lovely natural colour

This is the result , best I have tried and I've tried a lot ! I'm happy to wear shorts now !

@SoTiredNeedHoliday and @gunnersgold - Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but looking at the reviews on Amazon for the Isle of Paradise one, it does mention a couple of times that it has that "fake tan" smell. I always smell really awful when I've used a self tan and detest the smell, no matter how good it looks. Is it really bad and does it linger all the time you have the stuff on? Thanks! Smile

I shower in the morning and the smell for me isn't noticeable .

Thank you! Might give it go then, my legs currently have that "winter", blue lard look... Grin
