Things I've applied to my face tonight

Fritilleries · 19/02/2022 20:25

Cerave Salicylic Acid Smoothing cleanser (2 applications buffed each time with a warm flannel)
Followed by Superdrug's overnight glycolic Acid peel mask and slathered with a thick layer of Astral which I've seen mentioned on here a lot.

I'll look like I've lost at least decade, right? (35 irl)

What have you applied in hopeful anticipation? Brew

Ohhh i love skincare talk!

That would be a tame night for me ha.

I used
Then I Met You Cleansing Balm
Honest Beauty Clay Mask
Used my special fancy sponge to remove
Dermatica Tretinol
Beauty Pie Ceramide Capsules
La Roche Posay Moisturiser
The Ordinary B oil
Laniege Lip Mask

I have covid and feel gross but at least my skin is growing brighter than the sun 😎

thistimelastweek · 19/02/2022 22:20

Sorry, obviously you need a moisturiser.

I use Simple

Also works as a cleanser.

Classica · 19/02/2022 22:22

Clinique take the day off balm
Tretinoin - 0.1%

And then some rich bland moisturiser before bed.

cherrytopcake · 19/02/2022 22:24

Superfacialist vit c cleansing oil

Followed by Eucerin gel cleanser for oily/blemish prone skin

The Ordinary glycolic acid toner
The Ordinary Niacinamide & zinc

Simple lightweight moisturiser...

Anyone got a good moisturiser to recommend that's lightweight and won't make me greasy/shiny ? Feel like Simple is not actually moisturising my skin. 31 years old with oily t zone.

I have the glycolic acid on rotation with a retinol, azelaic acid and alpha arbutin + hyaluronic acid on other nights.

pawpaws2022 · 19/02/2022 22:26

@thistimelastweek

Nothing.

I'm 65. And people tell me I have good skin.

I'm not saying there isn't a place for good skin care. But I do believe less is sometimes more.

Bottom line, just give your face a rest. All those products are just annoying it.

Unless of course you need them. My skin looks much better with products Without it's a flaky spotty mess

balm to remove make up, a mud mask and then moisturiser, all emma hardie (Christmas present)

Cheekypeach · 19/02/2022 22:27

Nivea eye make up remover
Simple cleanser
Water
Rub with a towel (😬)
A big slather of Nivea soft

SpideySenseTingles · 19/02/2022 22:27

I had used nothing but water then reading this thread reminded me that I had some Superdrug face moisturiser. So now I have uses that and some cocoa vaseline lip balm.

Cheekypeach · 19/02/2022 22:29

Nivea soft is my lifelong friend. Been using it 15 years (since I was a teen) and I have never bought anything to match it.

mrsjg · 19/02/2022 22:36

blardyfeck · 19/02/2022 23:00

Emma Hardie moringa cleansing balm
La Roche Posay retinol
Herbivore lapis oil or
Elemis skin bliss oil
Estée Lauder revitalising supreme moisturiser or
Omorovicza midnight radiance mask
(Hyaloronic acid/vitamin c in the mornings along with Kate Somerville cleanser & a lighter moisturiser like Elemis pro collagen)

TooWeirdToLiveTooRareToDie · 19/02/2022 23:00

Well, after committing to use up some samples I’ve had for ages, I smothered myself in a lovely Rodial rose gold moisturiser the other day and woke up with about ten superficial, itchy red pimples all over my face - eyebrows, end of the nose, everywhere.

More have appeared every morning since, so tonight is a very bland:

Cerave cleanser
Cerave moisturiser

I really should stick to my tried and tested products and stop being so easily distracted!

Smelt lush though. I’d use it for the fragrance alone.

Geamhradh · 19/02/2022 23:12

The last few nights I've left out all actives after my skin got sore in the week (all day mask wearing plus quite hot where I am and stupidly forgot sunscreen) so it's been:
Cleanser- currently using Liz Earle C&P and Neon balm
Vichy Probiotic Fractions serum (like the 89 hyaluronic one but more for temporarily damaged skin barrier)
Origins Plantscription serum
Weleda skin food

Ordinarily it would be:
Evening routine
Cleanse
Glycolic tone one night/retinol another
Hyaluronic
L'Occitane Divine on the glycolic night, Weleda skin food or Nivea blue pot on the retinol night

AM
Hyaluronic
Vit C
Moisturizer - currently using Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference
SPF 50 Frezyderm.

Piemam · 19/02/2022 23:52

Moogoo oil cleanser, hot flannel
Then Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil and lots of it.
Followed by Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Nighttime Miracle Moisturiser.

Still dry

Classica · 19/02/2022 23:58

as oil is an occlusive you should apply it after the moisturiser
TheChosenTwo · 20/02/2022 02:20

Ren jelly cleanser
Leneige lemon sorbet lip sleeping mask
Dermatica
I might buffer with a moisturiser in a bit but will probably fall asleep first! If I do moisturise, it will be the whipped drunk elephant cream.

Back21970 · 20/02/2022 02:37

After reading this thread I feel a bit more low maintenance than I thought!
I used Clinique Take the Day Off balm to remove makeup, then a bit of Avene cleansing oil (lathers so more like a gel and very gentle) with my Foreo followed by Nip Fab toner and The Ordinary Retinol in Squaline and a dab of Filorga eye cream and finish with lip balm, use several different ones so whatever’s handy. Does actually seem quite a lot written down but only takes 5 minutes tops. Almost forgot a quick slick of lash serum when I remember - at the moment Rodial but ordered Revitalash online on Friday after reading about it on another S&B thread earlier this week 🙂

Gonnagetgoing · 20/02/2022 06:51

Cleanse, tone moisturise. Add Upcirvle caffeine eye serum, Aldi lacura CBD serum and a L’Oréal moisturiser (with aromatherapy oils?).

Gonnagetgoing · 20/02/2022 06:52

I also use retinol when I remember. Cleanser is L’Oréal for mature skin, toner boots essentials cucumber.

Gonnagetgoing · 20/02/2022 06:55

@cherrytopcake - don’t use it at night but I love that cleansing oil! Smile.

If you like that Boots do a vitamin C moisturiser own brand which is amazing…!

Gonnagetgoing · 20/02/2022 06:59

I know people have said this before but my DM swore when younger by Nivea in blue pot for her skin and it was greasy/oily when a teenager. Always used a very good SPF in sun. She now uses L’Oréal Revitalift but has very good skin.

She probably would use retinol etc but don’t think would bother.

Aldi lacura CBD serum is great for oily skin.

bouncydog · 20/02/2022 07:00

Body shop vit e cleanser, toner, eye cream, Aldi serum, followed by vit e moisturiser. Then a good slather of body shop body butter on the neck. Also been doing some facial exercises and am getting my chin back 😁😁

freshcarnation · 20/02/2022 07:05

Dermalogica. Retinol followed by moisturiser
