"Modest" nightwear and pjs

Notagoodnight · 19/02/2022 06:32

My DS(14) has a developed a condition that means he needs round the clock male support staff. I have realised that this means DD(26) and I have a desperate need for some sleepwear that is "modest" and better quality than our usual primark stuff!

I'm looking for long nightgowns in slightly stretchy fabric, a long lightweight definitely not see through dressing gown that is easy to get on quickly, and a long definitely not see through must stay closed dressing gown without a waistband that I can sit in comfortably. They must be lightweight as the heating is on these day much more than it used to be.
Any recommendations?

I just bought this for for my c section in a couple of weeks (maternity wards are hotter than the sun!), it's really soft and stretchy.

@k1233

Can you wear summer tshirt nighties? They're comfy, no waist band and not hot. Either of these would work. The sleeveless one would be good if you're struggling with shoulders
I get too hot at night and this is the style I usually sleep in, got a couple of pairs of pyjama bottoms for if it gets cold/I want to lounge. My breasts aren't that big though, might not be as good option if you're any more than medium.
Notagoodnight · 19/02/2022 20:53

Definitely have a couple of cyberjammies on order

@Pinkywoo that's good to know! That's one of the dressing gowns I've ordered to try!

I have a couple of night dresses on order from land send to try.

I have the thermostatic valve turned off in the bedroom. The problem is the house I'd too small for it to make much difference!!

I might to say thank you for all the recommendations and well wishes Flowers

I love cyberjammies jersey/modal range.

Tickledtrout · 19/02/2022 21:14

How about a zip up dressing gown?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 19/02/2022 21:35

The long white nighties in M&S are very soft, not 'hot' and don't expose the side of your chest through massive armholes.

Other than that, how about a vest top (the type that doesn't have spaghetti straps), perhaps with built in support and pyjama bottoms/loose trackies, together with a hoodie rather than a dressing gown?

I'd take either of these into hospital depending upon whether I was having abdominal surgery or not. Add in some slip on soft trainers only ever worn indoors and you're good to go at a moment's notice.

This is such a weird post - surely all pyjamas that aren’t intentionally risqué are modest? And a dressing gown?

Are you overthinking this?

Sorry to hear about your son.

formalineadeline · 19/02/2022 21:39

Wouldn't sleeping with the window open chill your room enough? At least for 6 months of the year.

TheSpottedZebra · 19/02/2022 21:43

Doing your dressing gown upby threading it only through the front loops, 9 er snd over, means means won't gape. Sounds mad, but it works!

Excuse my awful typing. And the Sun link.

Blossom64265 · 19/02/2022 21:51

Look for bamboo menopause pajamas. They are very lightweight and you don’t overheat.

MakkaPakkas · 19/02/2022 21:51

I wear M&S mens dressing gowns. Cotton for summer/visiting the tropical Central heating areas of my in-laws and fleece for winter. They've got pockets, they go all the way round my size 16 body and they are not see through.

RB68 · 19/02/2022 21:53

try a Kaftan or a house dress, easy to pop over the top of anything

RB68 · 19/02/2022 21:54

oh and sainsburies quite good for long t shirt nighties

ghislaine · 19/02/2022 21:54

This website sells very traditional nighties:

The pyjamas I’ve got on now aren’t intentionally risqué and have avocados on but the top is cropped and you could definitely see a LOT of boob if I lifted my arms up.

Quite a lot of choice on the Next website right now. Also Pour Moi and Asos.

It can be hit and miss but time it right and you can pick up some cool, comfortable ones on Amazon too.

Also check out the clothes sections in supermarkets when you're there; not just m&s but tesco and sainsburys.

Notagoodnight · 23/02/2022 06:38

Thank you to everyone who recommended the landsend nightdresses. They are absolutely perfect. If I head downstairs in a hurry I'm perfectly covered but my legs are free in the bed and they dont have too much fabric!

@Yayayaya20 I agree with the point that pyjamas can be inadvertently risque eg if you are loading a dishwasher, but I also mentioned in my second post that I cant always sleep in pjs! I much prefer a nightdress.

With thanks I have been slowly working through and checking out all the other links, but we've had a rough few days/nights so I've either been dealing with stuff (social services, doctors, behaviour) or sleeping when I can so haven't had time to update

Any one seen any long nighties in a short sleeved viscose as opposed to a cotton?

Have you looked at Bonsoir? They are expensive but good quality and you can get 20% off if it's your first purchase.

I saw an ad on Facebook the other day for something called Oodies (I think, sorry if I have misremembered). Made of bamboo, and looked to fit the bill for you. No idea on prices. I didn't check them out myself as I have just bought a load of stuff from M&S.

hugoagogo · 23/02/2022 18:45

M&S have plain short sleeve cotton/modal (viscose) <a class="break-all" href="//nightdresses.www.marksandspencer.com/2-pack-cotton-modal-long-nightdresses/p/clp60514707?color=CHARCOALMIX#intid=prodColourId-60515818" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here

Notagoodnight · 23/02/2022 23:25

@hugoagogo I completely missed those on the m&S website but I cant get the link to work would you mind posting it again?

Checking out the other two
