Help me with Vinted etiquette please!

I've just downloaded the Vinted app tonight, after seeing so many people talking about it on here.
I was merrily browsing and "favouriting" things, which I thought was the equivalent of watching things on eBay to come back to, which I was going to do tonight. I was all excited!
I then got a message saying "Absolutely not!!" from the seller of something I clicked to like. I sent her back "??", and she's seen it but not replied.
Have I committed some terrible faux pas and not realised it? Does it piss people off when you like things?
I really liked that bloody coat, and almost definitely would have bought it later tonight Sad

I favourite things in the same way you do….I wonder if she sent the message by mistake??

HardbackWriter · 18/02/2022 22:13

So I think what has happened here is that when you favourited it the app sent her a message telling her you'd done this and suggesting that she makes you an offer (ie offer a reduced price). She either thought it was you suggesting she offers a lower price or that she was replying to the app. Either way you haven't done anything wrong!

It shouldn't be a problem, as far as I know. Maybe she confused you with a buyer of another of her items who is being difficult?

I think you can change your settings so that sellers can't see when you favourite their items.

WorriedMum13 · 18/02/2022 22:14

I use the 'favourite' as a way of watching items, usually you will be notified if a seller reduces the price of something on your favourite list. I definitely think you are using it correctly but they are just being rude :(

Weaselstoatferret · 18/02/2022 22:16

Sounds like a mistake from the seller. I have been on vinted for a while and adding stuff to favourites is expected.

Piggyk2 · 18/02/2022 22:19

I have just downloaded vint too. I prefer Depop things sell easily.

Ericaceae · 18/02/2022 22:36

Thanks all! I've had a look at the settings, and changed it so my favourites aren't setting off notifications.
Off to look for a nicer coat Wink

Sometimes when I've favourited things the seller will come to me with an offer of a reduced price. And sometimes a buyer will message asking if the seller will take a certain amount. The seller in this case is behaving a little oddly for sure.
