The Apprentice outfits

Does anyone know if the contestants are dressed by a particular store/stores? I find it so odd that all the women wear such similar clothes, more often than not pencil dresses. They are all quite young, I’d have thought some of them might be a bit more fashionable if they dressed themselves.

I've been musing on their outfits too, they seem very dated for the post pandemic world especially the tottering sky high heels. I guess it is more of an entertainment show than an actual business competition so they wear 'costumes'.

milkysmum · 18/02/2022 20:59

Yeah they definitely do not look like outfits that young women in their 20s would pick out to wear!

camelfinger · 18/02/2022 21:02

I don’t watch it any more, but was half tempted to do so just to see the outfits. I caught a glimpse the other days and agree that it seems similar to a few years ago. Do they have anyone who doesn’t have long wavy extended hair? I wonder what would happen if you didn’t really wear makeup and wore plain clothes, would they force you into a figure hugging dress?

Soontobe60 · 18/02/2022 21:04

Same for the men who wear the tightest pants possible. It must be uncomfortable sitting down in them - and itch like mad!

SergeiL · 18/02/2022 21:06

It does seem quite dated. I felt a bit depressed to see the high heels and the blow dries.

OldEnoughandUglyEnough · 18/02/2022 21:27

It is a bit dated and depressing isn’t it? It’s like they’ve dressed the women like a girl band, all wearing a similar style of dress but in different colours.

Me too! Hate that women are expected yo be so glam and totter around in heels 🤪

helpfulperson · 18/02/2022 21:32

I love Karen Bradys 'fuck convention' approach to her outfits.

Mushrooms0up · 18/02/2022 21:35

Yes the heels are what I can’t understand - they must be so u comfortable.

It’s seems to be a recent apprentice trend - Ruth Badger was definitely not in a pencil dress and heels

HundredMilesAnHour · 18/02/2022 21:35

I wouldn't expect them to look 'more fashionable', this is supposed to be the more serious corporate world. Nor do I expect skintight dresses, really short skirts/dresses and bare arms/no jackets. Or 2 inches of make-up, high heels and hair extensions.

They're really not doing women in business any favours. But then they're not interested in business really are they? They're interested in fame and being D list celebrities.

I barely watch it now. It's not even "entertainment" anymore.

Youngatheart00 · 18/02/2022 21:37

I agree - it comes across as desperate and cheap and takes away from any business acumen they (don’t) have

Crazykefir · 18/02/2022 21:39

Ruth Badger, what a woman.

TheBigPeach · 18/02/2022 21:39

Yes the fashion is a little disappointing this year. I thought Karen Brady’s makeup was lovely the other night.

Pandoh · 18/02/2022 21:40

I think Ruth was one of the only girls not to, most of them have worn similar clothes since the start of the apprentice. It does feel dated now I agree, and although they all look great I can't imagine they all have the same style- they're probably lent them and told what looks good on camera (remember the green dress?!) Haha!
TheBigPeach · 18/02/2022 21:41

That black and white dress was weird looking.

Luckyelephant1 · 18/02/2022 21:42

The outfits are very 'towie girl going to work in the city circa. 2011' aren't they, and I'm sure they aren't the choice of the contestants. Not quite sure why they've done this.

lindyloo57 · 18/02/2022 21:43

Trinny on instagram mentioned this, saying she thinks maybe they are told what to wear, as they look all same.

bonfireheart · 18/02/2022 21:45

DD13 and i were talking about how they really must have help with their makeup and hair cos it all looks so similar. And also not everyone can afford a different outfit for each episode, so they must get help?

BennieAndBert · 18/02/2022 21:45

I assumed they were told what to wear.

BennieAndBert · 18/02/2022 21:45

To be fair, the bright colours do help you keep track of who is who.

thebigpurpleone · 18/02/2022 22:09

It really does look very dated now!

lindyloo57 · 18/02/2022 22:19

What make me laugh, is when the phone call first thing in the morning, give them all twenty minutes to be ready, there's no way that they can shower, dress, do hair and makeup in twenty minutes,

ZaZathecat · 18/02/2022 22:37

If all their clothes are meant to be in the little wheelie suitcase that the fired one takes away in a taxi, it definitely doesn't have room for a dozen pencil dresses. I think the show must dress them.
