Help with dress

Hi style gurus. I am a very unstylish, obese, comfort dresser in my 40s. I have a sepcial occasion coming up and I have nothing suitable in my wardrobe. Could you advise where I might look for a dress like this:

Size: 22 (some brands I fit into 20)
Fabric: Either cotton or a jersey that is upto 95% viscose and 5% elastane. Anything else gives me strong BO instantly.
Price: under 50
Body shape: Large belly, saggy boobs (so don't want a defined waist)
Occasion: smart lunch
Other: not keen on too much cleavage on display; prefer midi length but can do shorter

An example of what I like:

What's your budget? Also colours you prefer, sleeve length etc?
I'm sure there's a fab dress just waiting for you!

I would like it to be 50 pounds or less but have a little bit of wiggle room. I would want some sleeve but don't really have a preference on length. I don't like the type with elastic on the end though. Makes me feel like a 4 year old Smile

I couldn't work the link. But have you thought about getting a bra fitting? I hope I don't sound rude but if your boobs are lifted and then you define your waist it will give you a really nice look and create a good shape.

Have you tried any Joanie dresses? I've had a few and they are good quality.

puppylambkins · 18/02/2022 13:35

Have you looked at Popsy?

mouche202 · 18/02/2022 13:57

I would wear all of these but unfortunately they all have polyester, which I can't wear.

Will check out Joannie and Popsy.

Joanie do have a lot of viscose but be aware they also have polyester. The thing I like with Joanie are the reviews so you can get an idea of fit etc

mouche202 · 18/02/2022 14:36

I can tolerate up to 95% viscose but anything more and I smell like I haven't showered in weeks. It's super frustrating. Sad

This is 100% viscose
Is that ok

Yours is a definite from me. They have so many styles & the best part for me is I fit into smaller sizes than I do in other shops. (I am also size 20/22).

Orangesquish · 19/02/2022 17:46

I don't have any helpful suggestions but I think the khaki John Lewis one looks lovely.

Wordlewobble · 19/02/2022 17:54

Have you tried any of these:
not sure of the fabric composition but they often have some nice dresses www.clarenceandalabama.co.uk/
Or here they can make dresses made to measure at a reasonable cost and the reviews are fab www.oohbetty.co.uk/

mouche202 · 19/02/2022 18:48

Thank you so much for all your ideas. I like some of the John Lewis ones so I will probably order and see how they fit. Some of the others recommended are lovely too. I wish they came in brighter colours - I'm a bit bored of black combos! But thank you so much and keep the ideas coming
