Really smeary lipstick

Can anyone help?
DC have to wear a particular lipstick (Maybelline Super Stay) for a skating competition and it is just awful. It applies like a lipgloss with a sponge and goes everywhere and then when we try to clean them up we get a pink stain on the bits where they smudged it. Last time I ended up going over the edges with a concealer to try to tidy them up. Would a lipliner first help? Blotting? Vaseline? Any tips gratefully received.

I would rather choose a different lipstick, but this is what the coach has decided and I have to choose my battles carefully.

I wear this (it's bloody brilliant) but yes you have to apply it or "paint it on" very carefully and I dread the day I no longer have a steady hand!

My tip would be to apply sparingly. A little goes a very long way.

Order Lipcote on Amazon.

I use this and love it- it really does stay put. My tip would be to make sure you wipe as much excess off the tip of the sponge before applying if you can.

You really don't need Lipcote - once it's on it stays on. I have to take it off at night or it would still be there the next morning!

I have the opposite issue. Can't get the stuff off!

I use this, the one that comes in 2 parts? You have to apply the colour first, sparingly as PPs said, leave lips to dry, then apply the balm on top, it stays on for ages and needs removing with Vaseline at night.

It’s just one part, at least I’ll check again that I haven’t missed anything.

@mrsoverall2 well once it has smeared everywhere (hands, mask, costume), it stays put.
Thanks for the tips, I’ll try to get the girls to use less of it and let it dry before moving. Now how to get 15 of them to sit still…
