Trousers for the summer

Ideas? I am a jeans girl really but sometimes want summer trousers. I've a pair of bog standard capri type, and a pair of very summery elasticated waist/ animal print casual ones.

I'm not sure about wide legs as I'm very petite and I don't like linen as it creases.

Is there anything in between really casual and smarter that you'd suggest?

Boden 7/8 trousers come in a great array of colours.

Also don’t discount wide leg trousers. If in a petite cut they can look great with a white T-shirt or sleeveless top in the summer.

Ha- they are the ones I have! They are okay but a bit boring and formal sometimes.

My dd(18) seems to have bought a lot of jersey ribbed flares as they are apparently what the young people are all wearing. They might work for summer? What about chinos? I wear navy and balck chinos with all my summer tops and flip flops. You just have to get good tight fitting ones I find (otherwise they can look frumpy). Turn ups works well too. I like stretch in mine and have had success in the last 2/3 years finding them at White Company, M&S and Boden

Don't dismiss wide leg summer trousers, I'm petite, I wear them with flats all summer, just make sure they fit well on bum and hips .

I’m petite too

I have chinos (Joules) in both full length and cropped but wanted something different.

I recently bought some Hush harem trousers - unlike many they are not enormous on me, so am looking forward to wearing those. Also bought a summer jumpsuit (can’t remember the make), again haven’t worn it yet though.

Somehow both these options seem a little smarter than leggings or joggers but just as comfy, and a bit more on trend than chinos? But maybe I’m kidding myself Grin

I am short and pear shaped so the idea of jersey ribbed flares sends me running for the hills!!
