Has anyone changed the colour of their glasses?

I absolutely hate both my new glasses. I got the buy one get one free deal. I bought them in a rush and I can't see without my actual glasses anyway so that makes it difficult to choose.

Anyway I have warmed up to one pair but I don't like their colour. Has anyone successfully painted their glasses? I don't want them ending up worse than before. I guess I'd want them brown. Either a dark brown or a beige. Here's a pic

No

If it’s specsavers you’ve got 100 days to change your mind for any reason....?

Yuckypretty · 16/02/2022 14:51

Really?!? I've never heard of that. How can it be refunded the lenses are made especially for my prescription?

@Lagarthatheviking thanks so much I've just rang and made an app to change them for this Saturday!!

Also, how about trying on glasses, taking selfie, putting your glasses on to look at picture?

Yuckypretty · 16/02/2022 18:17

Yeah I actually did that. And just thought they looked a little off because if the angle of the selfie whereas it was because the glasses are fugly!!! I'm taking my husband this time.

Ask your husband to take several photos of you wearing any that you like from different angles so you can have a proper look.

Yuckypretty · 16/02/2022 18:46

Yes that's a good idea. Maybe a little video lol. They used to take pics of you and display them on their computer for you to compare. Maybe that wasn't Specsavers.

Our Specsavers used to have a screen you could photograph yourself on, but that was before most people had a decent camera on their phone.

It was awful last year when I needed new specs as not only could DH not come in with me, I had to try them on wearing a mask so had no real idea how they'd look without the mask. One pair is OK but I was disappointed with the second pair.

Yuckypretty · 16/02/2022 19:55

Yes that's what I was thinking of.

Yeah exactly it's so difficult with a mask. also they were very strict on hygiene, they had to sanitise every pair of glasses I tried on. So it was all a bit of a faff.

ClariceQuiff · 16/02/2022 19:59

Yes - I felt guilty about trying on too many pairs; also there were lots of gaps in the ranges where the frames were off being sanitised - there were a couple I'd liked the look of online that didn't seem to be there.

Hopefully it will be a bit more normal now. I have to have an annual test so am due again in April, but I don't think my vision has changed - however I might get another pair to make up for the disappointing ones!

Yuckypretty · 16/02/2022 20:11

Yeah it's a pain.

I got these glasses because I was having headaches and I couldn't bring myself to tell GP about it without at least doing something first.

So I booked an eye test a year before I was due. I didnt think anything was wrong with my current prescription but yeah I needed stronger lenses, only by about 0.25 on both eyes. Since I've worn them the head aches have stopped! Which is great

I was going to say you can swap them if they're Specsavers but I see you're already sorted.

It's so hard trying them on with a mask, and like PP I felt guilty if I tried too many. I just held my existing glasses up against the display ones and tried to find the ones that were the most similar shape. I did have to venture away from black into a really really dark almost imperceptible blue though which I wasn't entirely happy about 😂

JofraArchersFastestBall · 16/02/2022 21:11

I found it impossible to choose new glasses in specsavers with the masks and the awkward cleaning routine. I almost just bought the same glasses that I got last time, but instead took my prescription and went with one of the online retailers who send home trials.

Glad you can get them changed OP, much better than having to paint them.
