Buffet dress for petite with broad shoulders

I’ve just finished lopping the blousy sleeves off my third buffet dress and wondered if there was a better way!

I’m 5’2 and between a 10/12. I’ve got a waist but broad shoulders and hips. I love dresses that skim over my waist and have a more relaxed for but as you can tell, I’m no willowy model type so I need a fitted top to balance it out. The blousy sleeves seem to merge into the dress and make me look like a block but they look nice with cap sleeves. I don’t want a strappy one either if poss…

Any recommendations for buffet dresses for petites who are petite all over not just scaled down models greatly appreciated!

Oh yeah I didn’t know what they were called either until I spent ages looking for petite ones. Like that famous spotty Zara dress. A sort of floaty yet smart maxi dress you could wear to work/lunch/out and it doesn’t matter if you feel a bit fat either

I also seriously contemplated cutting off the big puffy sleeves recently - they make the dress impossible to wear under even the chunkiest knitwear. Mine has such a lovely print I really thought it might double as a winter skirt, but the sleeves …

Actually I must have fallen asleep looking for a photo of mine. Can’t find one though.

I am petite (12-14) with weight on my hips. M&S did lots of these in their petite collection last year ( I had high hopes but they look dreadful on me) but it is woeful right now. Can you hang on?

It’s frustrating as I have put on weight after my second kid but it’s defo a shape thing not a size thing! I’ve seen much bigger women looking absolutely gorgeous in these styles and I’m extremely envious!
