I don't have a lot of cash to spend on an outfit. I have a cropped black collarless jacket which I thought might look ok if it's cooler and I have black sandals or gold sandals, I'm not sure if they would look ok?

Yes, absolutely fine, it’s lovely!

WhatAHexIGotInto · 15/02/2022 11:47

Do you think black or gold shoes would be better? Or pale pink sandals?

Very nice, hope the wedding is a lovely occasion and it does not rain!

FVFrog · 15/02/2022 18:41

Lovely!

neveroutoftheChristmaskitchen · 16/02/2022 17:28

Sorry but you should never wear black or white to a wedding. Black is for funerals and White is for the bride.

She's not wearing widow's weeds or a bridal gown.

It's a lovely dress. And yes, wear black sandals.

cheekyasfish · 16/02/2022 18:07

@neveroutoftheChristmaskitchen

Pah! You do you. The rest of us can wear what we feel good in

That dress is nice. If you don't want a jacket wear a shrug or pashmina

It's 2022

As long as you're not in an actual white ball gown with a veil it's fine.

coldfeetmama · 16/02/2022 18:45

Lovely
I agree black shoes

Fudgemonkeys · 16/02/2022 19:19

Love the dress, sounds like you're sorted. Defo black shoes. Enjoy

Kshhuxnxk · 16/02/2022 19:21

That's really nice..I would go for black sandals too.

Imissmoominmama · 16/02/2022 20:31

I love that dress!

ChocolateRiver · 16/02/2022 21:03

It’s lovely, you’ll look great. I’ve seen loads of people wearing bits of black to weddings and no one batted an eyelid. I’ve even done it myself. And agree others - black sandals.

midsomermurderess · 16/02/2022 21:28

When it comes to weddings, some people on here seem to like making up rules one could imagine being applied by Queen Victoria in the 1880s. Delivered with such po-faced certainty.

Carpedimum · 16/02/2022 22:24

I disagree about black only being for funerals. I’ve worn black to several weddings over the last 35 years. This issue was on tv the other day & Holly Willoughby said she’s often worn black to weddings.

Nonsense.

It’s lovely.

SingingSands · 16/02/2022 22:39

That's a lovely dress OP, you'll look lovely.

(I have worn a black dress to a wedding. I added a thin gold belt, gold shoes and gold fascinator and I looked fabulous. The bride was in soft dove grey/silver so maybe she didn't the strict colour rule memo either 🤷🏻‍♀️)
