Tell me about your purse(s)

I need a new purse and I have a big birthday coming up so have been looking online for inspiration.

I only use one purse that carries my whole life so it's on the larger side. Occasionally I will use a small if I'm going out out and using a small bag.

I usually get 2-3 years out of a purse and it is very well worn by the time I get a new one. It has to be hard wearing as it gets flung into the bottom of all sorts of bags and for all sorts of occasions including messy days out with the kids.

The max I would spend on a purse for myself is around £30. I've been having a look online and there are so many to choose from with some eye-watering price points.

There's a Kurt Geiger one I have my eye on that's £80 but I don't think it falls into my hard wearing category requirements. I'll probably go for a cheaper purse that will last longer although that does sound like an oxymoron!

How much would you spend on a purse? Do you have different purses you regular cycle between? I'm interested in everyone else's purse habits!

I no longer use one, pretty much everything I need is on my watch/phone

My last few (each lasting around 3 or 4 years) have been Fossil, I rate them - and good variety of styles. Good sales or discounts available too.

I pretty much just use a card holder these days.
Rarely have much to carry, everything is on my phone but I do have a couple of bank cards I keep in my purse. Hardly any cash but there’s a small zip section for notes/coins.
I had a LV one that was a lovely bright orange colour but I replaced it for a black one I saw in Ted baker a few weeks ago as the old one was getting a bit tatty.

I stick to one purse, which I transfer to different bags as needed. It’s a leather one from Aspinals of London. I think it was around £160, but has already lasted more than 2-3 years and no real signs of wear and tear.

Just a boring canvas coin purse I think I bought from a market stall about 10 years ago but I think its time for an upgrade really. I don't want a big and bulky one as i like to carry it in my pockets if I can.

Pure luxuries for leather ,I've had no complaints but I've also brought some Kate spade purses on vinted as my very first kate spade brought from tk max years ago is finally looking haggard.

I used to always buy from Cath Kidston but the style has been discontinued. I need something with lots of card slots and it's always tricky. Last one I bought was from Hush and it's going great guns after 2 years, no signs of wear and tear whatsoever Smile

Changed to an RFID blocking card case years ago, so use that plus a small change purse (Longchamps).

I'm another who just uses a card holder nowadays. I have a pretty brown Michael Kors one from when they were all the rage. So it's a couple years old now but still in decent shape and I like it!

Visconti graffiti purses on Amazon are slightly over budget but I'd had mine for over 5 years when I lost it. My replacement is starting to look worn so I am going to to replace it with the graffiti again. I can remember how long DD has had hers, heading for 10 years though, still looks in good condition.

delightly · 15/02/2022 12:29

When I was googling I saw the Visconti ones and thought they were nice.

Having a read of the replies I think I couls rethink my purse usage. I only use it for cards really! Only rarely use coins/cash for nights out so could transfer to a smaller purse. I don't know why I've always thought I have to stick with a huge purse. It's annoying in my small leather backpack i use most days as a handbag as it takes up so much space along with my water bottle.

I'm excited now to maybe move on from the big bulky purse style I've used since my teens and I'm now approaching 40 Blush

I use a Kipling black canvas one, very hard wearing and large, have to decant stuff out if using a smaller handbag.
