Thumb rings

ILookAtTheFloor · 13/02/2022 20:48

I've seen and admired thumb rings on other women and I'm tempted. It's my birthday coming up but I don't know where to start, I only wear my wedding and engagement ring-- is it risky asking for one for a gift as the size may be wrong?

I've looked on Etsy and some are super cheap on there and probably crap. Do most people just buy a larger size ring?

I also like the 'lots of rings' look but don't know where to start either haha!

Any ideas or tips are welcome!

I swap a gold or a silver band on my right thumb, depending on which other jewellery I'm wearing. The silver one's an engraved "stacking ring" I've had for years - just a larger sized ring. The gold one's a vintage engraved band I got from Etsy. I presume it was a wedding ring at some point.
I'd recommend getting a ring sizer for a couple of pounds on eBay or Amazon to get your size, and having a poke around on Etsy using your size as a search term.

Should have said, I agree there's some absolute crap on Etsy too, but it's a good place for vintage gold if it's gold you're looking for.

I have a white gold Pandora ring on left thumb so it's simple as only have engagement and wedding ring on that hand and a set of three white gold on my right thumb.

Love them and would feel odd without now

Ooh thank you both, going to order a ring sizer thingy now!

Just curious why you don't wear rings on the middle finger of left hand and ring middle finger of right hand.

I don't have an engagement ring. I have a Victorian engraved wedding band, which I occasionally wear on ring finger of left hand but I swap it over for other nice rings and wear rings on middle finger of both hands.

I wear this on my left thumb, it’s Pandora and I love it.

You can buy a ring sizer for a few quid on Amazon/eBay rather than risking just buying one a bit bigger. Saves a bit of guesstimating!!

I wear 2 on my left thumb, one was my maternal grandmother's, one was my paternal grandmother's. I have weird shaped thumbs with skinny stems and big knuckles so really had to force them on but now they're lose and comfy! Would be a struggle to take them off so I keep them on all the time.

Thanks all, loving seeing the rings.
