Black wide leg trousers for a shorty.

I'm after some black, wide leg trousers for work but I'm only 5'3. I want full length, but not dragging on the floor, and I don't really want to have to get out the sewing machine. Comfort is more important than formality, so jersey type fabric is fine. Pockets are a big bonus. Budget at the lower end, so under £40 ideally. Anyone got any suggestions?

Marks and Sparks do amazing wise leg jersey ones that are about £15 and they come in short.

I’ve ordered this but haven’t picked it up yet. I’m 5’2 and find New look petites a good fit.

Thank you both. Two great options there, and both great prices. I think I prefer the shape of the m&s ones, but the new look ones have pockets. I may have to try both....

Bon marche do some too in 3 different leg lengths

I came on because this is exactly what I’m after too.

I’ve tried the M&S ones, they are really poor quality. You get that scratching sound when you sit down and the fabric rubs together. Grin

Abercrombie & Fitch usually do something like this, you would think that they would be really expensive, but they’ve always got a sale or discount on so they would come in at your price point. Unfortunately I looked last night and they didn’t have any, it’s always worth a look though.

Out of desperation I nearly bought some Saint & Sofia ones today - but they’re £79 a pair so I’ve given them a swerve for now.

I have 4 pairs of the m&s ones. They’re my work trouser.

I’m also after the same thing. I recently tried some M&S ones and found even the short leg length dragged on the ground a little when I was wearing trainers. Tried Saint + Sofia but the pockets made my hips look big due to the positioning, plus you have to pay for return postage. Will have a look at some of the others suggested here!

Have you tried Boden? I’m 5’2” and Boden does a very good petite range

As someone 4 11 i tend to stick to M&S i trousers most others need altering Their short is perfect on me though im shorter than you i have longlish legs and a short body so can imagine their short might suit you.

My local m&s (a biggish one) have an overwhelming selection of wide leg trousers in black and navy. All fabrics. All leg lengths. All under 40 quid. Most have pockets Smile If you can, I would suggest you go to one and see what you like. I tried on a few to see which worked best. (Went with a half elastic waist that allows for bloaty days) I'm certain you will find something that fits the bill.

I second M&S. I’m just 5’ & their short is usually just right.
