Can I wear this to an evening wedding do?

Dh’s cousin is getting married later this month and we are invited to the evening. It’s a mid week wedding, most people (but by no mens all) will have been there in the day too. Not a church wedding.

I am a shorter so absolutely have to buy clothes from petite sections. I am struggling to find something that isn’t too wedding-y (as we are evening guests) but is sufficiently smart.

What do you think of this Coast jumpsuit please, with navy suede shoe boots? (I can’t wear heeled sandals due to bunions)

Looks lovely, OP. I'd pair it with a pair of brightly coloured shoes instead of navy.

LizziesTwin · 13/02/2022 16:42

That looks lovely

OneFootintheRave · 13/02/2022 16:42

I was going to say the exact same thing. It's lovely but I would wear a bright contrasting boot.

heldinadream · 13/02/2022 16:45

I think it's lovely too and I agree a bit of colour somewhere but it doesn't have to be the shoes, could be bag, belt, scarf, jacket or wrap or even jewellery. Just a little something to break up the plainness of it.

GreenClock · 13/02/2022 16:47

Perfect!

SirChenjins · 13/02/2022 16:50

Love it! I’d stick with navy footwear as I find that elongates me (the joys of being petite) but I’d definitely wear some colour with it to break it up.

Lemonweightloss · 13/02/2022 16:54

Love it, too.
I wear silver jewellery.

Emmelina · 13/02/2022 16:56

That looks lovely! I agree with adding coloured shoes/necklace/bag to brighten it up a bit.

As it’s not from the petite range - are you comfortable with the cut in the front? As a short woman myself I find there’s altogether more space between the shoulders and bust in the regular range than I have on my person and I’ve had to slip a vest underneath something like this to just cover the middle of my bra!

WellTidy · 13/02/2022 16:56

This is so reassuring, thank you. It is surprisingly nice and the back of the fabric is really smooth so it doesn’t cling to lumps and bumps.

I am scuppered on the footwear front due to bunions, so I have to wear what I have and that’s the navy suede shoe boots.

But I am v open to anything that anyone might suggest to inject some colour. I have a yellow envelope bag - any good? I don’t suit massive earrings, much as I’d love to be able to wear them. I don’t think I will keep a scarf or anything like that on as it’s likely to be lots of dancing.

Do you think a jacket would do it? One of those short jackets that people wear for weddings in a bright colour like cerise or something?

It is from the petite range, I would t be able to wear it otherwise Smile

Yellow would work nicely, OP.

If you've got bunions OP, try Sargasso & Grey. They make their shoes with a wide toe box. I'm a flat shoe person but bought a pair of the most glorious pink suede heels from them and lasted in them all day on my 50th birthday.

I like the cut of the outfit, but not keen on navy at a wedding. I assumed that evening guests still wear something suitable for a wedding- I never realised people would choose something different if they were going all day too. (I didn't grow up in Britain, so an evening only invite is an odd thing for me).

IF the jumpsuit doesnt come in another colour, I'd choose a bright, colourful necklace, bright pashmina, belt or cardigan/jacket. Could you get red or bright shoes, or only navy ones?

WeeM · 13/02/2022 17:11

I think it’s lovely. As an aside if you haven’t already heard of them, check out Calla shoes-designed by people with bunions and their shoes are lovely!

WellTidy · 13/02/2022 17:15

Thank you for the bunion-friendly shoe suggestions - hugely appreciated. There isn’t enough time for me to try them before this wedding do, but I will absolutely bear them in mind for the daytime wedding we’re going to later in the year. For the evening do, I have to go with what I know won’t hurt on the night and for days afterwards, so it has to be the navy shoe boots.

Unfortunately, the jumpsuit doesn’t come in other colours.

I don’t want to put a belt on it as I like it as it is, and no belt loops.

Would the yellow bag be enough colour, do you think? I’m happy to buy something else.

We were at a wedding recently and there was loads of navy including a stunning dress in the main bridal party. Your choice looks perfect for a night do OP. A navy jumpsuit is a failsafe for me too. Have fun.

SirChenjins · 13/02/2022 18:36

I’d go for a bit more colour than the bag - you won’t have that with you all the time. What about some coloured costume jewellery?
