Sunscreen

A couple of years ago someone on here recommended Soap and Glory's F50 sunscreen which came in 30ml bottles.

It was bloody brilliant. I have now run out, and they seem to have discontinued it.

I have to wear F50 all summer and I need something really light as I am very prone to spots. I'm prepared to pay up to about a tenner for the right product. Maybe more if it's totally stellar.

Can anyone help?

Supergoop is great but it’s about 17 quid I think. It’s a light gel type texture that sinks right in and is invisible. Makes a nice makeup primer too.

Lickinglemonsinloughborough · 12/02/2022 19:53

Oh ignore - it’s factor 30, not sure if they do 50.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid. You can get factor 30 or 50. I prefer the 50. You can also get it with a tint.

It works great as a primer and can be worn under makeup, doesn't cause breakouts and doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy or heavy/sticky. They also do an invisible mist that I use throughout the day (on top of makeup) to keep myself topped up and protected.

Absolutely the best product/s I've ever used! I usually stock up in the winter as the price rises significantly during the summer and it's always out of stock. I think boots have it on offer at the moment but it's usually cheaper to order directly from their website.

Lemonandadropofhoney · 12/02/2022 20:12

To add... it is a little more expensive than your budget but it is absolutely worth it and a little goes a long way so it lasts ages. The reviews speak for themselves.

I Have just ordered this for my super-sensitive son. Feels really light and nice.

The Cetaphil Sp50 moisturiser is good, and £7.50. I use it everyday all year round. I've also used the Sunsense tinted SPF50, but it does feel a bit more sunscreeny.

Heliocare has been recommended to me by a few aesthetics nurses.

WarriorN · 12/02/2022 21:02

I've been using altruist face which I love, mega cheap and has niacinamide, but it can be a tad greasy. But I use bare minerals powder which works well with it.

DorisJoy · 12/02/2022 21:18

Altruist spf 50 face fluid is good and a lot cheaper than la Roche posay.

EdithStourton · 12/02/2022 22:01

Thanks everyone- lots of suggestions. I've ordered the Heliocare and the La Roche - I need something low in greasiness.

I'll see how they work. Fingers crossed.

I’m not keen on the Supergoop or the Altruist

My absolute fave is Nivea spf 50 shine control which is £8 in Boots. I love it!

WarriorN · 13/02/2022 08:57

Are any of the above that are recommended mineral sunscreens?

That's what I use. The body creams are excellent too.

Lemonandadropofhoney · 13/02/2022 09:08

@WarriorN The La roche-posay is a mineral sunscreen.

DanceWithYourBalloon · 13/02/2022 09:13

Superdrug Solait do a face lotion in 30 and 50. It also has 5* UVA protection. Best bit is that its only £2.99.

WarriorN · 13/02/2022 09:36

@Lemonandadropofhoney thanks, that's what I was using in the summer I realise. Not massively keen on the alcohol; I felt it dried my skin.

I hadn't gone back to bare minerals with the altruist though then. Will continue experimenting!

MenopauseSucks · 13/02/2022 09:37

I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF50 just for wandering around both summer & winter.
It really suits my skin & I don't need to use moisturiser or anything underneath it.

Heliocare 360 gel oil-free is tinted so if I want a foundation I use that - again all year round.
It leaves my face looking dewy & fresh (!) but comes off under a mask Confused so not so good at the moment.

Plus Altruist Face Fluid is also good.
