Skin care help (combination skin)

Hi, I am very low maintenance, wear very little make up (bit of BB cream and under eye concealer occasionally some mascara) and generally just face wash/wipe and moisturise morning and night. Anyway I am in my late 30s and am starting to notice that my skin is feeling a little older especially under the eyes. I am also losing weight and I know that this always ages me. So I decided that I need to start thinking a bit more seriously about my skin care routine. The issue I have is that as soon as I put any kind of anti aging night cream on my skin I start breaking out in spots. If I don't moisturise I end up with uneven dry skin. For years I have been using a Johnson's clean and clear moisturiser which is fine as a cheap basic but not sure it's particularly efficient in terms of aging skin. So in a nutshell don't want to look like a mixture of an OAP and a teenager!🤣 Any advice?

The basics would be a proper Cleanser not wipes. So a gel or cream maybe? Or something like Inkey List Oat Milk. And any moisturiser at night.

And Spf every morning is the best anti aging.

If you want proper anti aging then you need some form of Retinol. I would say do Dermatica or Skin and Me - they send you a bottle each month it's around £20 - it's stronger than over the counter Retinol. Sometimes you do break out initially. It promotes cell turnover in the skin.

For more glow you might like to try a vit c serum.

Thank you so much, that's really helpful 😊 will have a look into those. I just find as soon as I try and look after my skin it breaks out in spots and then I give up! I remember having a facial on holiday in Turkey hoping I'd be all fresh faced. Spent the rest of the holiday with massive red spots! Honestly thought I would have grown out if teenage skin at 37!!

I really like Cassandra Bankson on YouTube she has great advice for breakouts!

Ageing and spots are a common combo! Tretinoin treats both so also recommend the Dermatica or Skin and Me services. Then just mild basic cleanser/moisturiser, doesn't have to be expensive. Always suggest fragrance free as fragrance is an irritant and yet unnecessary. I think that is what caused a lot of my spots previously, looking back.
