We are going to a wedding in the south of France in Late July. I think it'll be a lovely little affair. My question is what do smart French women wear to weddings? What's the style?!

I'm French too, and @Happy36 's advice is perfect

I'm English although with a 2nd home in France. Happy36's style all the way.

I am mother of the groom this year. I will not wear pastels, heels or anything patterned or frothy. Am coming down firmly on the side of navy silk trousers and a tunic. I may however wear a hat. I can carry a hat.

I think this is a parisian wedding but I was struck by the laid back chic www.instagram.com/p/CUU03jHoCTC/?utm_medium=copy_link

My cousin's French Algerian mother (50) literally wore black trousers and a scruffy jumper.
On her only daughters wedding day; ok in was in the countryside but it was a posh wedding and I was shocked. I think my cousin didn't expect any different from her mum though....
Her mother's French sister in law (50 ish too) wore a smart but non descript suit.

None of the French women at that wedding looked any more chic than the English & some Spanish women guests.

Sorry I don't mean to offend anyone. Basically all the guests looked fine despite nationalilty.

Except my Aunt.

I've noticed some French women going for very minimal, but very chic clothes. Elegant but subtle as well.

Interestingly, in the Wedding in 'Emily in Paris', the ceremony was very casual but then dressy casual chic reception aftewards. I found it very interesting to see the difference to a UK wedding.
