How do I wash silk pyjamas?

I’ve had a beautiful set of silk pjs for my birthday. I love them, so swishy in bed.

Only they are hand wash only, 100 % silk.

I prefer not to save things for best, they are for enjoyment. How can I enjoy them as they’ll end up at the bottom of the washing basket for ever!

Can I risk a cold hand wash cycle in the machine?

I'd try the hand wash cycle with the silk and wool liquid detergent you can buy in the supermarket

Or wash by hand and do a low spin in the machine

I may try the bottoms in the machine and see how they fair.

Or just save them for best I guess. Haven’t time to hand wash them each week.

I’ve happily put cashmere in the machine successfully so maybe I’ll risk it.

They weren’t cheap though.

I shove mine in the wash. They’re are robust silk, not floaty silk though, I might worry if they’re were more delicate.

I LOVE them, but it’s spoiled me for normal PJs. I’m now on the hunt for more affordable ones (my first pair were bought in Thailand, so not to pricy).

20°C on the delicates setting, with a low-speed spin, and using wool detergent. (I use Mitchell’s Woolly Wash but the supermarket ones are just as good tbh.)

Hang out from the machine straight away otherwise it dries all creasy.

Oh and no fabric conditioner or vinegar or anything — just the detergent.

Fab con in particular seems to really ruin silk.

20 degree wash and 400 spin, they have come out lovely!

Thank you all.
