Feeling crap because I have no style

I've never been able to style myself. I have bad self esteem and nothing seems to suit me. I haven't had much money for the last few years and have barely bought anything. I buy things online but it all looks bad on me and it all gets sent back and the whole process makes me feel crap. I recently had a baby so am currently living in black maternity leggings and stretchy black tops with t-shirts over the top. My shape has changed since having a baby and I don't know whether to wait to try anything new until I lose my tummy.

How do people find their style? Is it just confidence?

The funny thing is I've worked in fashion and styled other people, but I just can't seem to do it for myself!

I have a couple of styles depending on how I'm feeling, like you my at home style is comfort foremost. I have been wearing jersey trousers with tops, today's is beige with a beige cardi worn as a jumper, I don't look fantastic in it but I've been looking after a 4 year old for a few hours. Going out m or of my outfits would be boho, I've always liked hippyish stuff so it was never a conscious decision. I've recently started wearing smarter clothes just because rather than because it's an occasion.

I'm sure things do suit you and you need to concentrate on your best bit, everyone has them. Mines my boobs, my daughter's her legs. Now concentrate on items that emphasise it. Do you have someone who'll be brutally honest about things?

Can you put a mood board together (or a Pinterest page) of looks you like and can picture on someone else, maybe with a similar shape and colouring to you, then try it for yourself? Even if it puts you out of your comfort zone a little. I’m sorry if that sounds patronising or easier said than done!

Why are you drawn to the things you bought online? Was it the colour? The shape? Ask yourself the same questions you would have asked the people that you styled?
Look at ebay, you can put in a particular style or colour of, say, a dress and it will come up with hundreds, a lot you may not like, and you may not be comfortable buying secondhand but you'll maybe see some you do like and that is your style.
Disclaimer, I'm in my 50's so what's in fashion is less important than what I feel good in, but I'm just trying to help Wink
