Can anyone identify this product?

I recently had my make-up done by a make-up artist (not linked tobacco brand or anything).

They did a smoky eye and for the base of this used what looked like a black lipstick? It made the colour they applied after (a deep purple) really stand out/stick. They also used it to line my waterline.

I hunted round Superdrug the other day but the staff couldn't think what the product might be and I couldn't spot anything similar.

I know Mac do paint pots which I think can be used in a similar way, but I liked that this could be used as an eyeliner too and wasn't messy as didn't require using fingers/ a brush as just applied directly.

I did ask but she couldn't remember where it was from or the brand.

Was it an eyeshadow stick? By Terry does a black one:

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick?

hartof · 08/02/2022 22:17

Was it this www.nyxcosmetics.co.uk/eyes/eyeliner/jumbo-eye-pencil/NYX_001.html

Superdrug sell NYX

I will attach photos of my suggestions:
You could try a Nyx jumbo liner in black (or even dark brown or purple). They’re like a big, chubby pencil with a soft, malleable texture. (Also inexpensive.) They can also be smudged out with a brush and used as a standalone product. Charlotte Tilbury has one that is a bit more fabulous too but much more expensive.

The other thing I am wondering about is if she used something like a Laura Mercier Caviar Stick? They’re expensive, but fabulous. Also come in a bajillion colours - and they change them up every season. Like the Nyx, they can also be smudged out with a brush and used alone.

There are many other companies that do similar products to these also, so please don’t just think I am locking you into these brands. Look up dupes on the internet and you’ll find something more affordable! (If you’re just using it as a primer, you don’t need to sell a kidney for it, but if you’re wanting to use it separately, maybe it’s worth spending more.)

Hahaha - great minds 😉

Thank you for suggestions, none of those were what she used, but sound like they do a similar job.

The one she had was plain black casing and almost identical in size/ look to a lipstick- think a typical Mac style lippie with the bullet style tube, but with no silver, it was just all black.

Like lipstick, it had a sticker on the bottom but it was faded so just a sticker with no writing visible.

I guess what I need to find is something 'soft' enough to smudge a little (not dry/dragging on the lid), but not so soft that if I use it on the waterline it will end up smeared all round my under eye?

Not sure if any of the above products mentioned would fit the bill? I don't mind paying a bit more for something that does what I want and avoids having to buy a separate primer/ colour base/ liner etc.

Lord & Berry Kajal?

Can anyone identify this product?
Justilou1 · 09/02/2022 07:38

Flower Beauty does a kajal like that too (lots of companies do.)

Riverhouse · 09/02/2022 07:46

Do you think she would send you a photo of it and you could put it up here?
I know nothing about makeup but I seem to be very curious about what it is 🤣

Justilou1 · 09/02/2022 09:16

@Methenyouplus4 - does it have to be the exact product? Any black or dark eye primer or long-wearing eyeshadow would do the trick. (massive fan of Revlon Colorstay Creme eyeshadows for this purpose. Very cheap and super-effective. They’re almost always 1/2 price somewhere, as well.)

Justilou1 · 09/02/2022 09:18

*Posted too soon… If you take my advice re Revlon, the trick for best application is to ensure that you use a very thin layer of the eyeshadow. The satin or sparkly ones are even easier to apply than the matte ones, but they are much more user-friendly than the Maybelline equivalents.

Methenyouplus4 · 14/02/2022 18:52

Sorry for delay in replying.

No, it doesn't need to be the exact same product, just one that does the same job/is easy to apply.

I tried black lipstick as it was the best I could find before a planned night out, it did the job but was quite smudged by the end of the night and unfortunately I spent all the next day feeling like someone had attacked my eyeballs with a cheese grater and they watered and burned all day!

I'm going to compare prices of the kajals mentioned above -thank you!
