Help?!
Any ideas what I should go for?
I have wide leg trousers, skirts, blouses in green/maroon/grey (pic attached of style), loads of dresses in all styles, cardigans, blazers...
Also have loafers with a slight wedge, black ankle boots, heels

I am stuck on what to go for! I'm 5ft 10, top heavy and a size 16/18
Can attach more pics if needed of stuff I have

What kind of job is it? And how "high up" are you?

Face to face customer service type but for a big brand (think luxury/designer) and dealing with customers after they have made the purchase Not too high up but a decent salary for my area (35k starting salary)

Wide leg trousers and a silky/flowing blouse tucked in, in a colour that suits you.

Heels ether than a wedge.

Very clean flawless makeup as hair down but groomed. I would go for small golf hoops and simple jewellery.

So basically an ultra polished groomed looked.

I do not like the first top you showed. It sort of has a tunic shape which I think is too informal.

I would also pair all that with a jacket- what do you have?

Bunce1 · 08/02/2022 15:11

Do you have anything from the brands you’ll be working with? A little nod to the collection could be good.

Bunce1 · 08/02/2022 15:12

Or-

Straight leg trousers ankle boots, blouses tucked in and blazer.

The blouse pictured I would wear tucked in Smile it's quite loose/flowing then

Jacket wise.. I am likely to be too warm!
I have a black blazer, navy one with a small pattern, pale grey one and a black and white one which is like tiny tiny spots

Sorry trying to answer all the questions!!

Earrings I have fake diamond studs in 24/7, makeup I'm good at so I can manage groomed
Hair - pass. It's curly so it's never going to look "sleek" but it's nice curls

The snap details buttons and the pockets really make that blouse look super casual. I would not wear it. Also the neckline isn’t very fashion forward

ihaveonecat · 08/02/2022 15:32

Ok, it would have to be a dress then as I don't have any other type of shirts sadly! My boobs can't fit into any others so I'm restricted on tops
I have quite a few dresses, plain and patterned

Agree that the blouse is too casual.

I think if your'e working with a consumer brand you should think about what they would expect someone to be wearing. eg is it the kind of environment where style and a splash are important - ie should you be looking at a statement necklace or colourful jacket - or is it more the type of brand where customer service reps need to be neat and pulled together but somewhat invisible? In which case it's probably the black trousers, a good neutral blouse and discreet jewellery or a t-shirt with a neutral jacket.

As a top heavy size 16, personally I tend to go with dresses, with or without a jacket. Fit and style more important than anything else.

ihaveonecat · 08/02/2022 15:45

Not a clothing/jewellery/bag brand
It's more of a product so no clothing linked to them or I would definitely be wearing it!

This is my shape

That dress but plain? Shape is gorgeous on you!

Iamnotamermaid · 08/02/2022 15:49

If it is a big brand (think luxury/designer) do they have a store near you? Can you take a look at what the staff there are wearing. I would say a blazer (M&S have some good ones) and simple but smart dress or blouse\trouser combinations.

My last interview (i got the job) was end of lockdown. I was 2.5 st heavier than “normal”, and I don’t have many clothes anyway.

Black drawstring/elasticated waist wide leg trousers from M&s. Off white next shirt. Buttons did up, just! Cardi which didn’t do up, so I held in front of me over an arm when I walked in just in case!

Flat shoes, black, practical style.

I don’t wear make up, hair tied up out of the way.

I felt awful, but looked reasonably simple and smart.

Like I said, got the job. Also pleased to say that getting back in the office also meant the 2.5 st has slowly dropped off!

Bunce1 · 08/02/2022 20:07

The darker dress with the blazer with the tags on it I think might look nice.

Or the black and white floral dress with the black blazer.

I love the leopard green skirt from your first post but I don’t think it’s interview suitable.

M&S for about £19 I think they are. Just a pull on one but it fits ok
