Hair Extensions to minimise damage

I've had extensions before and found that when they're removed after 6-8 weeks my roots are thicker but my lengths are very thin and pretty much just a wisp of hair left from the mid length down. This is after using copper tubes and then LA weave.

Just wondered if anyone else has this problem? And knows why the roots actually become thicker? I have fine cut it frizzy hair and love having the extensions in as it weighs down my curls but I do have to apply a small amount of tension when blow drying it straight.

I miss having them so much, it's such a confidence boost and I feel ready for anything. I know i can use clip-ins but I can never be bothered unless im going out.

Can anyone recommend tape extensions? I think micro rings and nano rings will slip and pull on my hair like the copper tubes did.
