Collagen supplements

I'm late 40s and teetering on the edge of ordering a collagen supplement. Do you take/have you tried one and was it worth it? Any recommendations as to brand and product? If you didn't think it was worth it, do you take or use anything else instead?

Thank you in advance.

Take vitamin c instead

How does the body know the collagens only for skin? If you eat liver pate does the body use it to patch up your liver? 😃

I take a collagen supplement.
I have noticed my skin is better, my gums are better (no more sensitivity) and I recover better from minor injuries and exercise. How much is down to the collagen supplement and how much is down to the other dietary changes I've made I will never know. But I'm not changing anything!

I took them for months upon months and saw no difference.

I have a relative who swore by imedeen -the tablets in the yellow box not the callogen shots-but at £80 a box it’s not something I can afford to try.

I’m about to try retinol. That seems to have a lot of positive results according to the reviews.

Interesting. I'm not entirely convinced by the before and after photos and, as some of you have stated, those people who have submitted photos may have made other changes too.

Other supplements I added were omega 3, calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3 and K2. I also increased my water intake. I also sorted my food out quite a lot. Hard to tell what did what. So I'm continuing for now. It has taught me a lesson about doing too many changes at once

I've been taking Colladeen Visage regularly since the pandemic started. They are often on sale and I never paid full price (3 for 2 or a few pounds off or I get a £3 voucher sometimes).

It claims to deliver what is needed to support collagen production.

I used to take it on and off over the years but every time I re-started, I would get compliments a few weeks in, so I suspect it did something that I can't quite identify.

I'm scared to stop now!

However I do think diet helps a lot more. Bone broth, that sort of thing.

A mixed response. I'm going to have to do some more research I think.
