How do you know if you're using a good shampoo / conditioner or not?

Okay I know this sounds dumb but I've realised I have no idea if I'm using the right shampoo / conditioner on my hair or not. Everyone's hair is different of course, so what's good for someone may not be for someone else. I have never stuck to the one brand my life, once I'm finished one bottle I'm buying another brand, usually what's on offer. I have very thick, medium length curly brown hair that is prone to both frizz and getting greasy quickly. How do you know if you're using the right stuff on your hair? How should hair look / feel after it's been washed the right way using the right shampoo / conditioner?

In my experience you just know. I'm ok with own brand shampoo but I'm fussy with conditioner. I like a clear shampoo as I feel my hair seems clean after I use it

I am currently using Avalon Organics conditioner and really like it.

I'm interested in this. I have tried no silicone shampoo/conditioner, but unfortunately, my hair looks better with the silicone. I did give it a good effort without. So although it looks better, it may just be because my hair is encased in silicone....

If I use shampoo which isn’t creamy like herbal essences my hair doesn’t feel clean. So I use creamy shampoo like elvive and dove
