Underwear that doesn’t given VPL under leather look leggings?! Help!

I’ve got an outfit planned for the weekend but whatever underwear I wear under leather leggings I get BPL. My ass isn’t good enough for a thong, the leggings show all the cellulite so I don’t feel confident.
Is there a holy grail of pants I’m missing out on?!

M&S do no VPL underwear

So.....I know it sounds strange......but I swear by M&S mens trunks in situations like this Blush No VPL and very comfortable.

No VPL underwear! I get mine from fabletics or sloggi do some great ones on Amazon (the brand gives me images of Bridget Jones style knickers but these ones are really good Grin) they’re great for under leggings at the gym!

I've not found any. Even the side part of a thong is visible in mine. I've resorted to wearing no pants and a pair of tights (with a gusset)underneath with the feet cut off. It's a bit sweaty but it's the only way I've found to keep my modesty without underwear lines.

Uniqlo do a seamless brief that gives no vpl. It also has a bonded in cotton section where a panty liner would sit so a bit heathier than a fully synthetic fiber brief. www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-airism-ultra-seamless-bikini-briefs-438983COL17SMA006000.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9Kasqf3t9QIVmp3VCh03OwPiEAQYASABEgISj_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I find leather look leggings awful for showing cellulite and every dimple! - and most I’ve brought have been extremely thin almost see-through too!

The only thing that works for me, and hear me out.. is tights, footed or footless depending on shoes, but yeah I wear tights under mine for a smooth finish 🤣

Ozanj · 07/02/2022 16:21

I’m going to be harsh and say (from bitter experience) that if your arse isn’t for thongs it isn’t for leather. Or white jeans.

Greyhairwarmheart · 07/02/2022 18:21

Try wirarpa pants from Amazon- they're so big and cover so much of your bum that the lines don't show. They are cotton which is comfortable.

thenightsky · 07/02/2022 18:23

I'd go for a bum covering top. Leggings, leather or not, always look better with a longer top.

Glad it's not just me!Grin

@5128gap I’ve always done it under leggings for the non-see through security and my mum would think I’m absolutely bonkers for putting tights under any trousers/leggings 🤣

This is exactly what I was going to say. No offence OP but unless the area that's only covered by full brief knickers is the chunky part that's covered in cellulite and the rest of your legs are fine, then I'd say the leather look leggings are probably not the right choice.

If you're adamant on wearing them then I would say wear a thong and some thin tights underneath which will help smooth all the lumps and bumps

CrinklyCraggy · 07/02/2022 19:41

Usually the answer is bigger knickers. If you're getting VPL your pants are too tight.

Although these do seem particularly unforgiving if you can see cellulite through them Shock

Hairyfriend · 07/02/2022 19:42

Sorry OP, but I agree with other posters. Are you sure tight, leather look leggings are the right choice if you can't wear them with a thong? Confused

My only thoughts would be to wear underwear shorts underneath, or a tunic top that covers your bum.

Me too! Even the cheaper leggings give good coverage with a pair of opaques underneath. I'm thinking of investing in some of those cooling tights for the leather leggings though because it does get very warm.Grin

Forgiving? Leather leggings are like body paint! You can see a pimple on your bum through them. Hence the necessity for tights!
Ozanj · 07/02/2022 23:33

@CurtainTroubles

I don’t understand what you mean when you say your bum isn’t good enough for thongs. Surely a pair of pants isn’t going to provide much additional coverage under a pair of leather leggings. Tight trousers will show every lump or bump regardless of that kind of knickers you’re wearing.
Some of us look like our knickers are full of pound coins without a bit of smoothing support lol. I think that’s what she means.

Victoria's Secret all their knickers are great under leather leggings.

Ozanj · 08/02/2022 14:03
@Ozanj I think anyone who thinks a pair of knickers can smooth cellulite is kidding themselves.
It can’t entirely smooth it but it can hide the worst of it. Though definitely not in leather look leggings lol

StarlightLady · 15/01/2023 10:05

I vary my knicker styles from Brazilians to thongs and beyond depending on my mood rather than what I'm wearing. To be honest I have never understood concerns about VPL. If you can see a knicker line (and thongs create a knicker line too but in a different place) it means that you have knickers on. Bumps from bras often can be seen through tops, even jumpers and nobody bats an eyelid. I really don't see the concern or the need to create the illusion that you are not wearing knickers.
