How to style these boots for work?

I would love a pair of over the knee boots for winter. (Live overseas) But would really need to be able to wear them to work to make the purchase worthwhile as winter is short. Work is relatively corporate, but not exactly suits & tailoring. Thoughts ?

I saw someone walking down my local high street wearing some, and I have a feeling that she might have been a sex worker. It wasn't the boots that gave me the impression but ykwim

I just wanted to say OP - sorry if I came across as catty before Blush.

I'm really into my fashion but I recall once many years ago when I was 18 I bought a pair of thigh high suede or leather boots from Russell & Bromley - they were gorgeous. But I really didn't think it through and got the most awful comments from friends and family mocking them. Never bought them again!

I can see if you're in a certain part of the world where you only get sun a bit then you may be tempted.

@FayCarew - I agree with you - not only are they wine coloured thigh high boots but they also have a peep toe and stiletto heel!

Add in the jumper and skirt (leather?) and she looks awful. Is it from circa 2000 era?

FayCarew · 08/02/2022 15:32

All of the outfit is bad, nothing goes together. The jumper is ok but her boobs look fake. 'The skirt is shiny and the buttons aren't great. The bolots would be ok if they weren't peep toe.

I used to have over the knee boots but hardly ever wore them

boots not bolots

When I was younger I bought over the knee boots. I absolutely loved them and I got a lot of wear out of them. I didn't wear them with very short skirts, I wasn't brave enough.

I wore them with long, medium, to the knee length skirts, all sorts of trousers. While some would say it's a waste wearing OTK boots and covering them up, it wasn't really, I hated tops of boots showing (if wearing calf height boots or ankle boots). I hated sitting down and the whole top of the boot on view, I'd be constantly pulling my skirt down over the tops. I'd end up having to wear tights with them in case my knees/ just below the knees were on show. It's difficult to explain but with OTK boots you just wore socks, pulled on the boots and there was no gaps, no bits of leg showing, no bare knees.

The other reason I liked them was because they were always much comfier and you could get a really good height in heel, they just gave a better look to an outfit instead of a Chelsea boot etc even trousers.

The other thing is they go with many outfits, so you get your monies worth, you're not looking through your wardrobe for footwear to go with the outfit you're wearing.

If you do decide to buy some definitely try them on rather than buy online, all these boots fit differently, some are tight on the knees and some tight on the calves.
