What colour for my thinning hair?

I have mid-brown very sparse hair. I am thinking of getting it coloured as it looks dull and I need perking up! I am going for this type of cut (but this is too blonde). Any advice on colour? Would it work in a different colour? I have dark eyebrows, am almost 50 and would love a fringe but don't have enough hair! Thanks.

I don't see why it wouldn't work in a different colour. Could you have highlights right through so it isn't as drastic a colour change for you, if that's what you're concerned about? Maybe with a view to going lighter next time if you like it?
