I'm a size 22-24 these days. Sigh.

I need a couple of ball gowns / evening gowns / long cocktail dresses for upcoming balls in 2022.

My favourite go-to was Donald Stanley, but she's closed the business 😭

I'm looking at places like Isolated Heroes, m.a.d. Collection etc on Instagram, but would love to find some more small businesses and designers.

Budget up to £250 per frock. Happy to have necklines etc adjusted by a seamstress so don't can be online only.

No, I don't want an Ever Pretty frock, they are fab but everyone has them and I want to find small businesses to support.

Any recommendations?

I have no idea about independent boutiques I'm afraid but Coast have a plus size range, and I've had some success finding full length evening dresses at John Lewis.

I'm already a lover of Isolated Heroes - I'm be buying the graduated green/pink dress for the March Ball but definitely not loving their new season for that kind of event - hopefully they'll have more for 2022!

Anna Scholz is not what she once was in my opinion, she's gone down the milkmaid route which is a shame as she used to have beautiful silk print dresses.

Never Fully dressed plus size range has some absolutely wonderful prints.

Bombshell - the main selection is above your price range but there are few in the outlet. A friend has bought a couple of these and they are amazing.
