Saddle bags I think they’re called

Please help me. What style of jeans should I be buying to not make my bum look so awful. I’m happy with my weight and size (10.5 st and size 14 if that helps you). I hate shopping so a style or even better a style from particular shop would make me very happy 😊

Following too OP as I'd like to know! I've put on a bit of weight and am a 12 in jeans but even at size 8 I've always had saddle bags and 'hip dips'.

I currently have skinnies and boyfriend jeans- the boyfriend jeans hide the saddle bags a bit 😁

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 02/02/2022 09:36

this is me.
I have some wide leg jeans (M&S) in a really thick denim that skim over my saddle bags nicely, also Primark mom jeans not too bad. The thicker the denim the better.
Other than than I just avoid checking our my own rear view Grin.

DidgeDoolittle · 02/02/2022 09:39

I'm the same shape as you. I've found m & s sienna jeans really flattering. They're straight leg, very soft and only cost £19.50

OneToThree · 02/02/2022 09:45

Off to M&S I go! Grin

I know you said you just want style advice but it is also possible to change this a bit if you want to. I have always had saddle bags but I started lifting weights at the gym at few years ago; squats, deadlifts, hip thrusts and I have genuinely found that my bum is a better shape which i never thought possible before. It's more lifted and spreads out less to the sides. It's still big and I'm still pear shaped but it's a definite improvement.
Might be worth looking into if you are so inclined

Jeans wise I always wear straight leg and never skinny or tapered as those look awful. Flares or boot cut also look good but haven't gone for those in jeans although I do with other trousers.

OneToThree · 02/02/2022 09:49

Straight leg. Thank you.

I have a pear shape and find low rise jeans make my saddle bags look better. I prefer straight or slim leg options - anything else looks awful on my thick thighs. But your legs are nice so you could go for low rise skinnies. G Star do some lovely ones.

KatyS36 · 02/02/2022 09:52

This is me! Levi high rise 724 high rise straight leg in a dark wash (to the nine is my favourite) xx

aluvss · 02/02/2022 09:56

You need a pair of jeans which balances out your shape. I think bootcut jeans would look good. In a darker colour; indigo or black.

Clarabellawilliamson · 02/02/2022 10:12

I also really like the Levi's 724- I get mine from a designer outlet place that always seems to have them for much cheaper than on the high street

OneToThree · 07/02/2022 11:07

@DidgeDoolittle OMG thank you thank you thank you! The M&S Sienna straight cut are just perfect.

@OneToThree would you mind sharing a photo of them to see the difference in shape, thanks

OneToThree · 07/02/2022 11:21

Here you go. You might not agree with me (scared now Grin ) but I love them

they look lot better imo

yes to straight leg. or slim if you can get it over your thighs
levis 512

skinny looks awful on my saddle bags but strangely jeggings are fine.

Bubbles1st · 07/02/2022 11:46

Thanks @OneToThree ! I'm quite a bit bigger than you and have not worn proper jeans in maybe 5 years so might go in and try them on at least

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 07/02/2022 11:53

Wow that is such a better shape for you OP you look at least a dress size smaller in them! I love M&S for jeans and this just shows how a different style of jeans can really change your overall appearance. Most people stick to skinny jeans because that's what's been in fashion for so long. They look fab on you! Grab them in other colours too and you've got an instant new wardrobe Smile

spiderlight · 07/02/2022 12:10

That's such a difference! I love my Sienna jeans - I bought a pair online last week on the back of a previous S&B thread, tried them on and imnmediately ordered a second pair!

OneToThree · 07/02/2022 12:25

Yep I’m definitely off to get another pair.

DidgeDoolittle · 07/02/2022 12:44

I'm so glad you love them. They look brilliant on you.
It's such a relief to find a pair of jeans that are flattering, comfy and cheap. If they ever discontinue them I shall riot.

Suprima · 07/02/2022 12:51

I think your skinnies look better tbh. It depends on if you are trying to look ‘smaller’. You have a nice curvy bum in the tighter fit, the straight legs make you look very square.

I would look at high waisted jegging jean in a black or indigo wash- molly at river island are nice. Or if you want a straighter fit, a mom jean that is high waisted and nipped in with a belt. I think the primark ones are brilliant.

I don’t think you have awful saddlebags at all.

5128gap · 07/02/2022 12:54

Those jeans look really nice OP, but you could also experiment with a higher waist. If the jeans come up at the back to where your top starts, i reckon you'd have a lovely heart shape to your bum, and your waist would look tiny.
