I've lost 4 stone so far and another 2 to go until I'm a size 10 yippee !! The problem is non of my clothes fit anymore and I preferred shopping plus sized clothes which tended to have big hip models etc. I find it hard to know what to buy as most models are a size 6 and don't have the same body type.

I have a small waist , large hips , large thighs , bum unfortunately quite flat and big boobs for weight.
I'm 28 rarely wear jeans mostly wrap, skater dressers , skirts that kind of thing,

Has anyone got any ideas what I could wear and what shops have models that represent my body type more ?

No advice but I want to say, bloody well done!

Well done from me as well. I don't have any specific advice re shops etc., I don't live in the UK so can't really help there. I have been in a similar situation though, I lost 7 stone and went from a size 22 to a 10.

It is really difficult to find your style with a different shape, especially as you have far more choice in what you can wear (at least it felt like that in my mind). I would say have a day or two (or probably a month or two) looking round the shops and try a few things that you like but might not have considered before. Perhaps even try a personal shopper (I have never tried it but many on here recommend then if you are a bit unsure about clothes buying). I think you have to be very objective about what looks good on you and what you really like, as after a big weight loss it is so easy to waste money on clothes that really don't look that good simply because you can fit in them. I bought some horrors. Don't dismiss stuff you wouldn't have worn before but don't be enticed by them eitherGrin.

It takes time but clothes shopping becomes a real pleasure rather than a worry.

Well done OP. If it was me I would book a personal style session at John Lewis. There’s no obligation to buy anything and a huge choice.

Well done on that weight loss
Fantastic ! 💐

Well done! I'm in a similar position.
I've decided to go really minimal and wait for joy to strike.

I've got one new pair of jeans, two skirts that I've shrunk back into, a couple of tunics and a dress. It's keeping me decent while I wait to establish what the 'new me' wants to wear!

I'm scouring charity shops in the hope of finding lovely things- a teal blazer, and a handbag so far!

I've two worries- eco impact of high street clothes, and what size I will finally settle at (will I lose more, will I struggle to keep it off etc).

I've been a 20 for a long time, I can afford to wait to see if I settle at a 16 or a 14. But I'm 55 so no-one I care about cares whether I'm dressed fabulously or not! I may feel differently if I were early in relationships or career.

picklemewalnuts · 01/02/2022 07:32

One of the reasons I'm glad I've waited is that some unexpected changes have had a big impact. I've struggled with chub rub since my teens, whatever size I've been.

I don't have it any more! So that's opened up a whole world of choices I didn't expect!
My feet however still demand pampering with only the most comfortable frumpy shoes, so that has to be taken into account, style-wise!

Bloody well done. What about trying a personal shopper?

Loopyloulou007 · 01/02/2022 08:08

Until you get to where you want to be weight wise. Why not try 2nd hand, Vinted or charity shops, then you can play about with styles for your new body shape and see what's suits, rather than spending a fortune on the first go.

Pop over onto one of the what are you wearing today threads for inspiration.

Jumpingintomenopause · 01/02/2022 10:22

I am mid weight loss and have gone for staples I can mix with.

Jeans (black and blue)
Wide leg jersey trousers
Breton tops
White T-shirt
Navy jumper
Grey sweatshirt
Few maxi dresses I can tighten the belt on as I go.

BusterGonad · 01/02/2022 12:36

Belted shirt dresses are always good, or Jersey dresses as they will still look great when you lose more.

Avinagiraffe80 · 01/02/2022 13:45

Maybe try Simply Be. Their designs are made for curves but they start at size 12.
