Accidentally used a retinol eye cream when breastfeeding

I was given an eye cream as a gift and despite usually being vigiliant I missed that retinol is an ingredient (AHC eye cream). I used it before bed, and have now tried to wash it off. Should I also be waiting until I feed DS, a bit like having alcohol, or will that make no difference? I feel so silly and a bit worried about the potential impact - I didn't wash my hands between applying this and my other creams so I suppose there could be traces all over my face and hair?!

Over the counter? Or prescription? Either way it will only be a tiny amount, really don’t worry about it.

I don't think there's been any evidence that skin cream with retinol cause birth defects or harm whilst breadt feeding. It's rather an abundance of carefulness. And I think its more for the hard core tretinoin than other stuff you buy otc. So you don't have anything to worry about.

But if a side track but you don't need to wait to feed your DS if you have drank alcohol.

Well, that's still technically the formal NHS advice even if there are studies that suggest otherwise. Personally I find risk management easiest by just trying to follow the NHS advice - hence attempting to avoid using retinols too even though I know some people do use them.
