Wide legged trousers - how do I style them?

I am late 40s, 5'6", and a standard size 12. Quite fit, do a lot of exercise, but broad of shoulder and not much of a waist.

I don't really know what possessed me, except that I need new clothes and work in quite a fashiony milieu so have to keep my end up.

But how on earth am I going to style them?

Please tell me I'm not an idiot and also what to wear with them...

I wear them with either pointy boots and a nice blouse or for a casual look I wear them with converse and a oversized jumper.

You can also go with a slim lined look and pair with a navy jumper, half tucked with converse or another casual trainer.

Or maybe a fitted shirt?

Any chunky flat footwear.

If I'm wearing wide legged trousers (mine are from the early 2000s 😳) I generally go for something fitted on top like a close fitting v neck jumper. I feel swamped otherwise! I just wear trainers on my feet!
