Anyone else not going blonde in their 50s ?

Hi, I’m 55 and always been a brunette, dyed a shade or two darker and warmer than my natural level 6 possibly 5 light(very ash mouse) brown hair. The thing is I’ve started to feel the pressure now to go lighter, I actually don’t have much grey only 10%. I’ve not dyed my hair for three months now as I can’t decide what to do but as it’s got lighter it’s making me look worse not better ! I read all this stuff about skin getting paler with age but due to rosacea and brown pigment my face is not paler now than it was. I know I can’t stay brunette forever but I really think I would look awful blonde, I get eventually it will be easier to disguise the grey. I actually don’t mind the grey I just hate my natural colour it just makes me feel drab. I’ve tried these apps that show you what you would look like blonde but it will only show a block colour which looks dreadful. In theory as I have fair/medium cool pink toned skin and green eyes it shouldn’t look too bad blonde. I cannot be arsed doing fake tan etc which I think I might have to do to look ok.

I'm 58 and mine is a deep purple colour if that helps?

Mine sounds similar colour. I use henna just to brighten it up and hide the greys a bit. It's a bit of a faff but I only do it every 6 months

I'm still a half head of highlights woman. What about that? God knows it's expensive but I really like it. I've gone a little bit blonder with a suggestion of grey still there but it's mostly more my old colour.

I have a silver vixen friend who's gone for purple streaks and another who's got a strong but not neon red?

I’m 49 this year so almost there and definitely want to stay dark have quite a good streak of white going at the front already and have to have a colour every 6 weeks. I have had highlights and ombré/balayage before but it always felt wrong even though it looked perfectly nice. Spiritually I ‘feel’ like a brunette if that makes sense. So no blonde for me I’ll just have to take in a lodger who’s a colorist so they can touch up the roots every other day!

I'm blonde anyway and it does hide the grey. But my brunette friends are still brunette and would look really odd if they went blonde, as its not them. We are all early 50s.

Thank you everyone 😊 it’s good to know I’m not alone ! My eighteen year old daughter told me I would look hideous blonde and she’s usually very truthful lol 😆
@dementedma I love all the really vibrant colours, I had mine a very dark violet red until last summer. I loved it but I’m lazy and just found it too high maintenance as it seemed to fade very quickly on me as my hair is very greasy and is washed two or three times a week.

I’m 40s and stopped colouring my dark brown hair in October. My hairdresser says I am 5/10% grey, so I am just going for it. I have proper streaks at each side, then just kind of scattered, no “stripe”. My hair is a very sharp bob with a blunt fringe, and my hairdresser (a straight bloke who I trust 100% to tell me if it looked shit, we’re in a long-term relationship!) says provided the cut is strong I can carry it.

Oh, I am not seeing my hairdresser, my DP would not be pleased - I just mean I have been going to him for a long time and know he would be honest with me.
