Grin I tried on a dress recently and have decided on it as my wedding dress - see photos. The wedding is as the end of May.
PLEASE IGNORE THE SHOES I'M WEARING! They were the only things I had to hand 🙈
I would love help with flower, colours, shoes, hair...all sorts. Please fire away!

Love the dress! Congratulations!

I wouldn’t wear converse with it especially as your shoes will be visible. How about jimmy Choo Azia 95? www.jimmychoo.com/en/bridal-boutique/bridal-collections/bride/ or a glittery Romy?

And so agree re good bra.

ohfook · 01/02/2022 05:14

I'm another one who really likes it with the trainers. I'd have it with a birdcage veil and hair up then go really all out with some vintage statement earrings.

ExhaustedMumma · 01/02/2022 05:36

What a beautiful dress! Love it so much.

I agree with PP that Rachel Simpson shoes would be perfect - they have lots of lovely vintage styles and many of them have a metallic trim that can appear warm or cold.

I personally wouldn’t go for a veil. A small flower crown either with real flowers or something like this would be perfect.

I’d suggest having a look for someone who does seasonal, British grown flowers. As it’s May, that won’t limit your options. Roses, Rununculas, sweet peas could all feature. So much nicer than imported flowers that aren’t seasonal.

Good underwear is an essential part of the styling too!

Tiramysu · 01/02/2022 05:48

Your dress is lush! Not much use am I. I'd say keep jewellery simple. Maybe some pearl earrings? And hair up definitely. I like the size of the flowers you are holding in the picture.

Tiramysu · 01/02/2022 05:49

Ooh and no veil. Maybe a headband

rosewater20 · 01/02/2022 05:50

Beautiful dress. I agree with ever suggested alterations. It does need taking in a bit. I also agree with @AdriannaP about the Jimmy Choo shoes. I wore Jimmy Choo's to my wedding and I felt amazing in them. Aquazzura does amazing silver heels too and their bridal shoes are incredible. Link below.

I would be careful about going too retro with shoes and accessories, I think you risk looking like you're off to a fancy dress party.

This would be beautiful with a modern shoe, and a statement earring but I would stay away from an earring with colorful stone as it could look odd in photographs. And, just to contradict myself slightly, a birdcage veil could be beautiful (but would go with a modern one, not too vintage).

😍stunning dress @CassandrasCastle!

How about a bouquet of eucalyptus (or other silver based foliage), sweet peas and some gypsophilia (?sp - baby's breath)

Perhaps a very delicate vintage looking tiara and some pearl hair pins with a loose updo

Perhaps some shoes like the attached photo but in a cream or silver? They would give you the height you wanted but should be comfortable for standing and dancing.

Congratulations and have a fantastic wedding 💐

Love it! Very 1930’s.

QueenOfCakeandCoffee · 01/02/2022 08:54

A long string of Pearls would look fab! I agree you could go boho and a beautiful up do. If you have red hair then I think lots of white, green, purple?

Have you thought about a shall/wrap for if it’s chilly?
I also agree about the tailoring making a big difference

CassandrasCastle · 01/02/2022 09:37

Thanks so much for your lovely comments and ideas!

I definitely need a better bra, you're right - that's on my to do list :D Alas though, alterations won't be an option as I am renting this beautiful dress, don't own it

I am liking the thinking thematically advice...

@CassandrasCastle Tegen Accessories have some really lovely hair pieces in their collection, v reasonable (and some ridiculously inexpensive in their sale) - would look beautiful with your dress. Have a wonderful wedding day!

CassandrasCastle · 01/02/2022 11:14

I really need to get my toenails sorted out so I can wear those @gunnersgold , I looove them! (Feet still in winter mode)

Am now very conscious of my terrible bra in these photos Blush

They are fab aren't they ! Anthropologie if you want to know . Toes are easy to fix!

LadyDanburysHat · 01/02/2022 11:21

With the vintage look of it I would play up to that and go with shoes like @Binbagladymay posted. I think pastel coloured flowers would be lovely rather than a stronger shade.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 01/02/2022 12:32
rachelsimpsonshoes.co.uk/collections/shoes/products/ginger-gold-shoes
These in silver would be perfect, or something similar. Closed toe with a similar vibe depending upon the time of year.

I agree that the underwear needs some more work, and I suspect that getting the right underwear might sort the slight fit issue around the armpits.

I agree a small birdcage veil would look amazing. Eucalyptus in your bouquet will work well and would go well with subtle pink flowers and lots of greenery. That's what I had and it looked lovely. Mine was a tight posey style, I think a bit softer style with your dress.

I wouldn't go too statementy with earrings if you have a veil or headpiece.

saygeronimo · 01/02/2022 15:09

@gunnersgold

I'd get these !
They are gorgeous and would be perfect

Much to mull over...thank you!

I'd go for 1930s dance shoes (T-bar, cuban heel) in a colour or metallic as you don't want to try and match whites/off whites. But converse would also work with that dress.

Shiningpath · 01/02/2022 22:13

If you’re renting can you try a size down and see if it’s more fitted?

CassandrasCastle · 02/02/2022 19:33

Hmm, I could try an 8 I guess...it's just a bit of a hassle paying the full rental money, then waiting for it to come back in once you've returned (money back if you say the fit wasn't right - but you've still got to cover the cost of special delivery and drycleaning...soo I've already wasted a bit on this and another one from VP that was too big😬)

CassandrasCastle · 02/02/2022 19:34

From VW I mean. Hmmm...now I am really tempted to try an 8 though!

Is John Lewis best for bra fittings? I just want someone capable to whisk in and manhandle my boobs into better shape 🙊
