Hi everyone
I am thinking about buying some jumpers from marks and spencer. Does anyone know if the clothes from m and s are generally good quality?

I knew they'd gone downhill when I picked up a dress about a year ago (it sold out and bloggers raved about it) in Primark and the checkout girl said there was an almost similar one double the price in M&S. Quality was same if not better in Primark.

Primark were one of the major customers of the Rana Plaza factories, weren’t they? I don’t think that they have signed up to the same supply chain codes of conduct as M&S and other retailers, either. Maybe that has something to do with why their clothes are so cheap, eh?

I really don't think you can compare M&S quality to Primark.

I used to buy a lot more from m&s when I was working, now retired, I do think its hit and miss, was in the other day and tried on a couple of new in dresses they were cheap and cheerful around £25/ £30 , but they did look it, so back on the rail they went, they looked like something I would buy from newlook or primark ,two shops I no longer buy from, I like their jeans and cotton tops, cashmere jumpers in the sale.

Years ago I bought some very expensive cardigans which bobbled straight away so I was annoyed at the time as £35 a pop was a lot for me back then first job etc. But then I recently bought some good move leggings which seem ok but don't come in short/petite where I was so need to return. Generally they're ok not amazing in my experience.

I've had a few M&S trouser hems come down on me in recent years, which is a shame.

If it's knitwear you're after I'd look at the men's department for basics.

I agree, the mens 100% wool jumpers are fab.
