Vitamin C recommendations

Morning all. I need to find a Vitamin C serum (no more than £30 ideally). Probably no higher than a 20% either, as I have had to ditch The Inkey List 30% one as it pilled terribly under makeup. Any recommendations for a nice serum one that plays nicely with foundation?
Thanks in advance.

The only one I like is Banana Bright by Ole Henrikson but its over your budget (I usually wait until its on offer at boots and then it's about £43). It still pills - I'm not sure there's one that doesn't? I use it at night and then a hyaluronic serum for day time.

The la Roche posay vit c is truly awful so avoid like the plague. Made my hands and face smell like I'd been fake tanning - constantly! Drove me mad for a few days until I worked out it was the serum!!

I absolutely love Balance Me vitamin c. It sinks in perfectly, has a lovely scent and seems to really work for me. If you look on feel unique, they have the festive glow kit reduced in their sale which has a full size vit c serum and full size radiance oil and two smaller products. This weekend it is included in their 3 for 2 offer as well. At £24 it’s cheaper than a standalone bottle of the vit c serum. I’ve stocked up as after trying so many vit c’s I always come back to this.

Thank you for the recs. I think I will try the Balance Me. I remember Sali Hughes raving about it several years ago. I used to get Obagi Vit C cheap on ebay but they seemed to have disappeared now. Also had a sample of Skinceuticals but their full size bottles are over £100Shock

@LoveLabradors update: I have ordered the festive glow kit. I also had a £5 reward voucher for Feelunique so it cost me £19!! Thank you for the link Grin

Medik 8 C tetra is good and usually on offer if you look online. I also liked inkey list but it did make my face sting a little initially.

LoveLabradors · 30/01/2022 13:04

@Perfumista so pleased! The mask in the kit is gorgeous too. Not tried the bha stuff yet though.

DeeCeeCherry · 30/01/2022 13:26

I use Revolution Pro. Its only 12.5% though, although I think theres a stronger version out now. £10.

I read loads of reviews before buying a vitamin C serum and this one works for me. Goes on smoothly sits nicely under foundation, doesnt pill at all, and I can see a difference in my skin.

Does using 20% strength make a difference? Im curious/considering it

BakeOffRewatch · 30/01/2022 19:32

Revolution do a 20% www.boots.com/revolution-skincare-20pc-vitamin-c-radiance-serum-10289314

I use their vit c moisturiser and think it makes a difference, I use a couple of their beauty items for basics and really like them.

Perfumista · 30/01/2022 20:52

Thank you all. I now have Revolution, Medik 8, Old H and Versed to go though on my list. Ole H cam be when I ama bit more flush (or if energy prices drop)

Let us know how it goes :)

Vichy do one that my sensitive skin gets on well with

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 30/01/2022 21:34

I don’t know what percentage it is but I find the Holland and barret hyalauronic acid and vit c serum sinks in nicely under makeup

ProfessorPlumb · 30/01/2022 21:45

Revolution serum was recommended to me and it's great. You can get it on Amazon. I used to use Balance me but it's so expensive and I've found this just as good. Honestly.

leotardrock · 30/01/2022 23:45

I've got the Revolution one too & really like it, I've also got the Revolution Skincare 2% Salicylic Acid Tonic and I'd say it compares well with the Paula's choice one & it's only a tenner!

ScruffyLittleTerrior · 31/01/2022 08:39

Another vote for Medik8 C Tetra

Kjr33 · 31/01/2022 13:07

I just got a melano one that was recommended by lab mucfin beauty and I’m really pleased with it so far. It feels a bit greasy at first but sinks in really well. I took a punt on getting it from Amazon but yesstyle and stylevana seemed to have it too

Perfumista · 31/01/2022 19:21

@leotardrock interesting to hear about the Revolution 2% salicylic acid toner. Was debating getting PC but again if there is something in Boots I can get a bit cheaper...

I've been very impressed with it! Bought it on a whim because I had run out of PC but I think I'll buy it again!

Perfumista · 03/02/2022 19:49

The Balance Me Vit C serum is super. Wore today and one pump spreads beautifully. Makeup was lovely over it and my skin was subtly glowy all day. The radiance oil in the kit is gorgeous, so now looking forward to trying the mask and exfoliant too

I’ve been using Balance Me for a few months after seeing recommendations on MN -not seen much difference in my skin to be honest but no irritation and works well under makeup. I bought it on a 3 for 2 on Feel Unique so didn’t work out too expensive. Anyone know what longer term benefits there are to using Vitamin C?
