What to wear: clubbing at The Printworks

I’m going up to London for a weekend in the spring and part of it involves a night at The Printworks.

Like a lot of people I’ve lost my fashion sense a bit during the pandemic. I’ve also put on quite a lot of weight - a couple of stone - during maternity leave in late 2020/early 2021 and a lot of my clothes now don’t fit. Working on that but obviously it takes time. Added to all this I haven’t been to a proper club for about five years - my city and friendship group is very low-key and casual, and I would rarely even dress up for a bar or dinner out unless it was a celebration. Have completely lost my way.

So:
a) what do people wear to a club these days
b) what should a 5’7, size 16, confident-but slightly-less-confident-these-days 35 year old think about wearing?

Leather trousers and a nice top.

Or a wrap or skater dress

Although it depends on your shape!

Looking at images online it looks like all the men are in T-shirts and hoodies. I can’t see what the women are wearing! I’d go jeans and top. But a kind of clubbing top, or a T-shirt, nothing smart.

Actually, looking on Instagram the women are more dressed up. Have a look.

It's cold at Printworks especially near the main bar area even with loads of people with lots of sweating dancing its still a massive warehouse. Don't know who you're going to see but something comfy you can move about in like a hoodie or sweatshirt with a skirt or shorts and tights and trainers.

Last time I went to printworks I wore turned-up black jeggings (so they had an ankle cuff), a tucked-in, high-neck T-shirt and adidas trainers. It’s really casual. Anything goes but the space is massive so I’d recommend comfy shoes. And yes to it being chilly in there! Think I had my denim jacket tied around my waist as I get cold really easily.

Or dress that up a bit with a glitter (disco!) jacket! Who’s playing?

Casual. Jeans and a teeshirt with trainers.
